Thanksgiving is the traditional “start” of the winter steelhead fishing on many coastal rivers. Rains and higher water levels will bring fish into the rivers but the best fishing will be when water levels start to drop.

Keep an eye on water levels and the weekly Recreation Report, and be ready to hit the water when conditions are right.

Don’t know how to fish for steelhead? Join the Sandy Chapter of the Northwest Steelheaders on February 25th to learn the essentials.

Now that we’re in a new year, it’s time to start thinking about taking a Hunter Education course.

New classes and field days are being offered.
