On Oct. 31 at the regional round of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest, a UW-Madison team claimed first place, advancing to the World Finals.

Alumna Jiexing Li (PhD ’14) and Prof. Jeff Naughton, along with a co-author from the Microsoft Jim Gray Systems Lab, Rimma V. Nehme, won the best paper runner-up at VLDB 2015, the 41st International Conference on Very Large Databases, a top conference in the field.
