Joining forces

Mr. Cernovich has an announcement:
Although Gorilla Mindset was the most successful non-fiction independent book launch of 2015, I always look for ways to move the needle. Those who have read my books know the drill:
  • Be grateful for what you have while focusing your vision of higher peaks.
  • Keep moving forward.
  • Appreciate who you are today.
  • Visualize who you can become tomorrow.
The only way to become better than you are is to work with the best.

Vox Day is a man I admired long before he knew of me. I was linking to his insightful, if controversial, blog as far back as 2009. And while he and I do not agree on everything, that is what free men say of one another. Clones are for cults.

Vox himself had a highly successful non-fiction book launch this year. SJWs Always Lie: Taking Down the Thought Police debuted at #1 in Political Philosophy and stayed there for 12 straight weeks, making it the successful political philosophy book launch of 2015. It may have even been more successful than Gorilla Mindset, but who cares? When you join a championship team, the rest is just details.

He followed up that success with a book he edited, 4th Generation Warfare Handbook, going straight to #1 in the Strategy category. Castalia House currently publishes five of the top 40 books in a category usually dominated by classic names like Clausewitz, Musasshi, and Sun freaking Tzu!

A spectre is stalking Europe

The resistance builds

I expect this will not be the only individual who is unwilling to play his part, however small, in the demographic demolition of his nation:
A German scientist is revoking the license to his bioinformatics software for researchers working in eight European countries because he believes those countries allow too many immigrants to cross their borders. From 1 October, scientists in Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Denmark—"the countries that together host most of the non-European immigrants“—won't be allowed to use a program called Treefinder, informatician Gangolf Jobb wrote in a statement he posted on his website.

Treefinder has been used in hundreds of scientific papers to build phylogenetic trees, diagrams showing the most likely evolutionary relationship of various species, from sequence data. Although the change in the license may be a nuisance for some researchers, the program is far from irreplaceable, several scientists tell ScienceInsider. Treefinder had not been updated for several years and it was mostly used by researchers who had grown used to it, they say. Some pointed to a list of possible alternatives online.

"Immigration to my country harms me, it harms my family, it harms my people. "Immigration to my country harms me, it harms my family, it harms my people. Whoever invites or welcomes immigrants to Europe and Germany is my enemy,” Jobb's statement reads.
What's interesting is that he took this action prior to the immigrant attacks in Paris. And what is even more interesting is that he is a man of the Left, as he writes: "Immigration unnecessarily defers the collapse of capitalism, its final crisis."

Hmmm. A German, a nationalist, and a socialist. That sounds familiar. The thing is, if forced to choose between Muslims and Nazis, the Germans are going to choose the latter every single time, as the graffiti at a migrant center indicates. And it won't only be the Germans either. In fact, I'll bet that most of today's self-styled anti-fascists will eventually embrace the ultranationalists once they discover that the "refugees" they are welcoming are considerably more "fascist" than the Nazis ever were.

Rubio is the new Bush

Not that anyone here will be surprised, but it looks as if the GOP establishment has given up on Jeb!
Marco Rubio, moving to capitalize on a wave of momentum in the Republican primary, will host a Capitol Hill fundraiser on Monday that will draw an influx of new supporters.

Around 70 of Rubio’s financial backers are listed on the event invitation — over half of whom, organizers say, signed on with the senator after last month’s Boulder debate. The fundraiser, which will draw lobbyists, bundlers, and several members of Congress, is expected to net around $200,000.

Monday’s fundraiser was initially going to be held at a Washington, D.C. townhouse, but organizers moved it to the Capitol Hill Club — where a large room has been rented out — after the RSVP list began to swell.

Among the names listed on the invitation, who are relatively new to Rubio’s fold, are Peter Davidson, a Verizon lobbyist; Christopher Chapel, a NextEra Energy lobbyist; Russ Thomasson, a former top staffer to Texas Sen. John Cornyn; and Mathew Lapinski, a lobbyist at Crossroads Strategies.
The GOP elite must be freaking out now that the Paris attacks have driven up Donald Trump's support to 42 percent. They're moving to Plan B faster than I had anticipated prior to the attacks.

Whether you like Donald Trump or not, whether you believe him or not, you have to admit that his response to the Paris attacks was easily the strongest and most forthright of any of the candidates in either party.

Lessons in Rhetoric: Swedish edition

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
@voxday So you're glad that Breivik did what he did? You're fucking despicable.

Vox Day @voxday
Why do you support Swedish women being raped and murdered by invaders? You're despicable and a coward.

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
Why do you support the mass murder of innocent teenagers?

Vox Day @voxday
Why do you support Swedish women being raped and murdered by invaders? You're despicable and a coward.

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
You are a pathetic racist fascist cunt.

Vox Day @voxday
You are a testosterone-free evolutionary dead end. Why do you sacrifice Swedish women to orcs?

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
Men of colour are not orcs.

Vox Day @voxday
Yes, they are. See, here's a picture and everything!

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
You are just sad.

Vox Day @voxday
You're an aspie who still lives with his parents. That's called "psychological projection". Also, the train is fine.

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
I'm not a fascist shit, so I'm better than you, and what train are you talking about?

Vox Day @voxday
The train is fine, Markus. The train is fine.

Markus from Sweden @the_Markunator
What train?!

Vox Day @voxday
The train that is fine.

Week 10

This is your weekly NFL Open thread. Big game in the NFC North today. Skol Vikings!

UPDATE: All Day does it again! 30-14 over the Vikings West (seriously, Del Rio, Tice, and Musgrave?), and AD ties OJ's record for the most 200-yard games with six.

Today should also definitively settle the Manning-Brady question. Brady is better. Great finish in New York.

Saladin's taqiyya

It's amazing that any Muslim still thinks that the West is collectively dumb enough to fall for this line:
Saladin Ahmed ‏@saladinahmed
Hey racist assholes exploiting an atrocity: Refugees from Syria, etc. are looking to *escape* this sort of violence, not to spread it.

Vox Day ‏@voxday
Give up on the taqiyya, Saladin the Liar. Refugees from Syria committed the atrocity in Paris.

Leandro Novaes ‏@leahn_novash
3.609 retweets of his lie. It's worrisome the amount of support the enemies of civilization can muster.

Vox Day ‏@voxday
No, Saladin the Liar is one of the SFWA's affirmative action pets, so he gets inordinate attention.
All of SJW virtue-signaling and "I'm so sorry you had to experience that" condolences from the SFWA hugbox should be amusing. It's also fascinating how the only place those poor refugees "from Syria" could  *escape* that sort of violence was in the West, instead of any of in any of the many countries belonging to their co-religionists.

In addition to implicitly trying to pass off Islam as a race, Ahmed himself belies his own argument. Look at the books featured on his Twitter header. Are they written about Native American culture? Are they written about Norman Rockwell American culture? About any Western culture? Of course not. Californian immigrants californicate. Islamic immigrants islamify. That's how mass migration works. That's how it has always worked.

Take it from a Native American whose brothers are literally on the reservation today.

UPDATE: See, this is exactly why they should have been sinking the damn boats:
Paris attacks terrorist suspect Ahmed Almuhamed 'was rescued near Greece after his refugee boat sunk'. According to Serbian media, a Syrian passport belonging to Ahmed Almuhamed was found at the scene of the attack at the Stade de France. Now a Greek newspaper claims to have discovered the 25-year-old and a family member, called Mohammed Almuhmed, were rescued from a wrecked migrant boat that had sunk on the journey from Syria.

The end of Rex Americana

This is an interesting article on Zerohedge which argues that the can-kickers of the US financial elite, which has been observably taking place since 1987, are finding it harder and harder to kick an increasingly heavy can:
Since policy is not a zero-sum game, i.e., one participant’s loss does not necessarily entail a gain for another, this paradox has a logical explanation. A crisis erupts within any system when there is a discrepancy between its internal structure and the sum total of available resources (that is, those resources will eventually prove inadequate for the system to function normally and in the usual way).

There are at least three basic options for addressing this situation:
  • Through reform, in which the system’s internal structure evolves in such a way as to better correspond to the available resources.
  • Through the system’s collapse, in which the same result is achieved via revolution.
  • Through preservation, in which the inputs threatening the system are eliminated by force, and the relationships within the system are carefully preserved on an inequitable relationship basis (whether between classes, social strata, castes, or nations).
The preservation method was attempted by the Ming and Qing dynasties in China, as well as the Tokugawa Shogunate in Japan. It was utilized successfully (in the 19th century) prior to the era of capitalist globalization. But neither of those Eastern civilizations (although fairly robust internally) survived their collision with the technologically more advanced (and hence more militarily and politically powerful) European civilization. Japan found its answer on the path of modernization (reform) back in the second half of the 19th century, China spent a century immersed in the quagmire of semi-colonial dependence and bloody civil wars, until the new leadership of Deng Xiaoping was able to articulate its own vision of modernizing reforms.

This point leads us to the conclusion that a system can be preserved only if it is safeguarded from any unwanted external influences, i.e., if it controls the globalized world.

The contradiction between the concept of escaping the crisis, which has been adopted the US elite, and the alternative concept – proposed by Russia and backed by China, then by the BRICS nations and now a large part of the world – lay in the fact that the politicians in Washington were working from the premise that they are able to fully control the globalized world and guide its development in the direction they wish. Therefore, faced with dwindling resources to sustain the mechanisms that perpetuate their global hegemony, they tried to resolve the problem by forcefully suppressing potential opponents in order to reallocate global resources in their favor.
Having already finance-raped the US middle class, they simply can't find enough external wealth to keep the pyramid scheme going. Hence the finance-rape of Ukraine and the failed finance-rapes of Syria and Iran. If the author is correct, about the only places left for them to find any remaining wealth are Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Singapore. Russia has already been looted, China is off-limits, and the EU is as tapped-out as the USA.
Up until 2015, America’s elite (or at least the ones who determine US policy) had been assured that they possessed sufficient financial, economic, military, and political strength to cripple the rest of the world, while still preserving Washington’s hegemony by depriving everyone, including (at the final stage) even the American people of any real political sovereignty or economic rights. European bureaucrats were important allies for that elite – i.e., the cosmopolitan, comprador-bourgeoisie sector of the EU elite, whose welfare hinged on the further integration of transatlantic (i.e., under US control) EU entities (in which the premise of Atlantic solidarity has become geopolitical dogma) and NATO, although this is in conflict with the interests of the EU member states.

However, the crisis in Ukraine, which has dragged on much longer than originally planned, Russia’s impressive surge of military and political energy as it moved to resolve the Syrian crisis (something for which the US did not have an appropriate response) and, most important, the progressive creation of alternative financial and economic entities that call into question the dollar’s position as the de facto world currency, have forced a sector of America’s elite that is amenable to compromise to rouse itself (over the last 15 years that elite has been effectively excluded from participation in any strategic decisions).
Already the European peoples are starting to develop more trust and confidence in Russia than in the USA. The new nationalist governments will not be friendly to the USA due to the way in which the US government is at least partially responsible for the migrant invasion. It is the coming break between the 70-year unequal alliance between the USA and Western Europe that will end the Pax Americana, although in light of how many countries have been invaded by American troops in the interim, Rex Americana would probably be a more accurate term.

Next up: Mayweather?

High-Lar-Ee-Us. Absolutely hilarious. Delusional big yapper Ronda gets KO'd in two rounds.
Holm easily won Round 1, bloodying Rousey's face with stiff left hands and oblique leg-kicks that slashed through her opponent's fearsome, furious frontal attacks. Rousey got in one takedown — her signature move that has won her several fights within the first minute — and Holm promptly wriggled out, then caught Rousey with a stinging punch to the face and a left elbow across the right cheekbone.

But it was the beginning of Round 2 that was to be the end of Rousey's perfect 12-0 record. Still woozy and bloodied from the first-round beat-down, Rousey endured a number of stiff punches and kicks — most, again, to the face — as she tried to chase Holm around the ring, hoping to suck the taller fighter into one of her devastating submission holds.

That's when Holm's swinging left leg strike caught Rousey in the neck and sent her teetering to the mat: Holm fell with Rousey to deliver a flurry of finishing hammer punches to the face, but by then she was beating on an already unconscious Rousey.
UFC 193: Rousey v Holm
The kick that ended Ronda Rousey's perfect 12-0 record.
To paraphrase Rousey herself, I wonder how Ronda feels being beat by a woman for once? Tell us again how you'd beat Floyd Mayweather, Ronda.... I told you the woman was nothing but corporate feminist hype; now even those without any experience fighting know that she's a fraud.

I had no respect for Rousey whatsoever because she is a liar, a charlatan, and utterly sans class. She showed no respect for her sport, no respect for far superior fighters, and no respect for her fellow female fighters either. Few athletes who have been so completely humiliated have merited it more.

On a technical note, these all-offense, no-defense fighters who rely on quickly overwhelming their opponents often surprise everyone with how completely they lose because their offensive dominance usually masks an inability to defend themselves. Once they meet a fighter they can't simply overwhelm, they don't tend to have a B option. Counterfighters tend to be the more complete fighters. I've bolded the relevant notes below, with my observations in italics.
Round 1: Holm offered up a touch of the gloves and Rousey didn’t take her eyes off her, refusing the gesture. Holm standing right in the pocket ready to engage, but it’s Rousey who gets off the first shot. Holm lands with a combo that stops Rousey for a brief moment in her tracks. No full-on blitz by Rousey yet, as she has done lately. [She was afraid of walking into a defensive jab from a superior boxer.] Another stiff left from the challenger finds a home, as does the oblique kick. Rousey with a right that stuns Holm and they clinch. To the fence and Rousey fires off several knees. Holm pushes back and Rousey unloads, but so does Holm. It’s likely Holm has hit Rousey more times through two minutes than she’s been hit in over a year. Rousey takes her down and is working for an armbar, but Holm defends and survives the first ground exchange. [This is likely where Holm won the fight. The grappler was counting on getting the striker to the ground quickly.] Back to the kick goes Holm and she circles away. Another kick finds a home and a straight left by Holm lands. Rousey’s face is starting to turn red from the straight shots, as she’s not moving at all. She’s just eating these shots. [She can't close and she couldn't finish when she did. No Plan B.] Holm loses her mouthpiece and we have a break. Holm with the clinch and she takes Rousey down, quickly getting back to her feet. Rousey looks desperate, chasing after her and she’s breathing heavily. Exchange of knees from the two, but Holm is all over her. [By this point, Holm knew she was in control of the fight. She'd figured out that Rousey had no defenses.]

FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Holm

Round 2: Rousey eats a shot right off the bat and a combo, as Holm is dominating this fight. Rousey completely whiffs on a strike and falls to her knees. She hurts her with a left and delivers a kick to the face and Rousey is out cold. Rousey was out cold and asking Herb Dean what happened.
Watch the video. It wasn't even close. After a flailing attack ends up with her on her knees, Rousey exhibits a total lack of basic defense, as she failed to get clear before getting up and turning around. She blindly turned right into the kick, which is why she was KO'd on her feet.

After watching this, I would not only expect Holm to beat Rousey in a rematch, but I wonder if Rousey will even ask for one. That wasn't an upset, that was a better fighter cleaning the clock of a tactically limited one.

Refugees and children

Remember this when the SJWs and other pro-invaders start throwing out their sob stories about poor little immigrants and children "jes' wanting to start a better life in their new home":
Two of the suicide bombers who caused carnage in the Paris massacre are thought to have sneaked into France by posing as refugees from Syria. The disclosure, which came amid claims of French intelligence failures, inevitably raised new security concerns about Europe’s borders.

Police said the two men, who arrived in Greece last month, were among seven attackers, one as young as 15.
Even Marine Le Pen isn't taking it far enough yet. Most people don't realize yet that it's the moderates who are the heretics. Not the radicals. But even so, at least she appears to be moving in the right direction.

"Urgent action is needed. Islamist fundamentalism must be annihilated, France must ban Islamist organizations, close radical mosques and expel foreigners who preach hatred in our country as well as illegal migrants who have nothing to do here."

It looks as if Reconquista 2.0 will begin soon. But not soon enough for the people of Paris.

The nation is not the soil

Richard Fernandez doesn't quite grasp the new post-Parisian reality.
The dream of a “borderless Europe” has taken a body blow.  Now all courses run ill. The momentum of the migrant tide is already too great to simultaneously pacify public opinion and avert a human tragedy. A million people are on the road, strung out all over the place. Reuters reports that migrants are now making their way through the Arctic route, coming in through Norway via Russia clad in pitifully thin coats. “Ali left Syria to avoid the army draft and paid $2,500 all-inclusive for the trip to the border, which included flying to the Russian Arctic port of Murmansk via Moscow and Beirut. Like others reaching Norway, he cycled the final stretch, as Russian authorities do not allow travelers to proceed on foot.”

Ali may not be as welcome any more.  You can’t let them freeze and Paris can’t let them in. Like Syria itself, there are no easy choices left to the Europeans. EU efforts to bribe African countries into repatriating their citizens were met by a blank refusal.

The European Union has been forced to drop controversial plans to deport failed asylum seekers who do not have passports after African countries blocked the move.

European leaders offered more than £1billion aid in a bid to persuade their African counterparts to take back tens of thousands of illegal migrants.

But a migration summit in Valletta, Malta, descended into farce after the Africans rejected the EU plan to expel those who do not qualify for asylum using special papers.

The dilemma the West now faces is that it cannot survive on the basis of the platform which its elites have carefully constructed since WW2. They are being beaten to death with their own lofty statements. They must either continue to uphold the vision of open borders, multiculturalism, declining birthrates, unilateral disarmament and a growing state sector at all costs — in other words continue on the road to suicide — or retreat. As recent events at American campuses have shown, when faced with the choice of saving the Left and saving the actual world, the odds are that “the world” goes over the side first.
If the elites will not save the world, then the world must be saved from the feckless elites.

Readersource request

So, we've got something big to announce on Monday. And by big, I mean something that is going to enable Castalia House to take the next serious step forward as a publishing house.

While we have had a number of successes, from blowing up the Hugo Awards to Amazon bestsellers, the one area where we have been absolutely abysmal is in informing the media of anything we're doing; despite being covered in every media publication from the Wall Street Journal to the New Zealand Herald, we have not sent out a single press release to anyone. So, while others are talking about us, we haven't been publicizing our side of the story.

That's going to change. But here's where I need your help. I have a great list of media contacts in the game industry that dates back to 1988 and consists of literally hundreds of names and email addresses. My list in the publishing industry presently consists of 17 names and email addresses. That is genuinely pathetic.

So, if you're interested in helping Castalia, what I would appreciate is if each of you would find ONE name of a journalist or blogger who regularly covers books or writes book reviews, and then email the following information to me:

NAME
PUBLICATION/SITE
EMAIL ADDRESS

Once you've done that, post the name and publication here so that others can see they're checked off the list. And yes, it would be very funny indeed to send me John Scalzi's email, but I've already got it, so you needn't bother with that.

One useful trick, if you're looking for the more esoteric publications such as military journals, is to see who has written about an author, or a similar author, before. For example, that list of 17 consists solely of journalists who have written about Martin van Creveld. If you happen to find a journalist that way, please mention the reference author and/or work as well. Thanks very much. I do appreciate it.

Also, Brainstorm Annual members, don't forget that tonight's event will feature Mike Cernovich talking about his latest book, Danger and Play: Essays on Embracing Masculinity. The event will begin at 5 PM Eastern.

Category error

Brad Torgersen wants to fight SJWs, but he is unnecessarily leery of certain tactics in a discussion of a Kate the Impaler post at the Mad Genius Club:
The reason they “win” right now, is because they rely completely on civilized people being too polite to tell them all to fuck off. Over the next twenty years, civilized folk may decide they’ve had enough, and then we’ll send the gerbils packing. The pendulum won’t stay stuck in one position forever. The trick is to not become them in the process of fighting them — which is a very tough chore. The values of the Enlightenment — also known as actual liberalism — don’t have to be destroyed in our zeal to see the gerbils run out of our institutions and our seats of power.

Right now those Enlightenment values only come into play to protect SJW protests and safe spaces. They do not do anything for the college presidents that have failed to confess and apologize for their white privilege to these cultural revolutionaries.
To which Jeffro Johnson replies:
Actual liberalism is done. It’s gone. Very few people under thirty even believe in the principles of free expression. We’ve been conceding our culture without a fight for decades while behaving as if that makes us better than the barbarians. It doesn’t.
In my opinion, Jeffro has the right of it. How are we going to “become them” when we don’t subscribe to their ideals? George Patton didn’t become a Nazi or even a German by adopting maneuever warfare tactics and using them against the Wehrmacht. The Mossad didn’t become terrorists by adopting assassination tactics against the PLO.

To claim that we can become like them by virtue of utilizing their tactics is a fundamental category error. Tactics are not strategy, grand strategy, objectives, or ideals.

They are not SJWs because of their behavior. They are SJWs because they subscribe to the totalitarian dream of social justice convergence.

AKs in Paris

Machine gun fire has been heard in central Paris, close to where the Charlie Hebdo shootings occurred in January. The shooting on Rue Bichat, is thought to have led to several deaths and injuries, although authorities are yet to have confirmed this. Police and other emergency services are at the scene.

Many people killed in restaurant by a man with Kalashnikov near Place de la République, according to reports....

It seems there may be three possible attack sites: a restaurant, a bar and outside the Stade de France. Details are very much confirmed at this stage.

Not that anyone will be surprised, but it is confirmed to have been Muslims again.

Louis, inside the Bataclan, told France Info radio the men opened fire and shouted "Allah Akbar".

The latest reported death toll is 160+.

FRANCE24 reports 100+ hostages are being held at the Bataclan.

Now reports of more shots fired at Les Halles, the huge underground shopping mall near the Giardin Nelson Mandela.

That sounds very brave and all, but if war is upon you, then why aren't you fighting the enemy?

According to BFMTV, one of the gunmen shouted: "It's for Syria" at Bataclan and "Allahu Akbar".

BREAKING: PRESIDENT HOLLANDE DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY IN WHOLE COUNTRY: BORDERS CLOSED

A little late for that. But a good first step, assuming it is followed by mass deportations. I just heard from a French friend. Let's just say "absolutely and utterly furious" would be a reasonable way to describe his reaction. I do not think the French will take this lying down, regardless of how the government responds.

Police state 100 people were killed in the attack on Bataclan concert hall. Three suspected jihadists were killed when police stormed the venue, police sources said.

This is infuriating: people inside the concert hall were texting and begging for help for TWO HOURS before the police finally stormed the hall. 118+ killed by 4-6 jihadists in the meantime.

Lesson: CARRY A FUCKING GUN!

Mailvox: the Farmer's Iowa call

Farmer Tom makes a prediction:
I'm personal friends with the Iowa campaign managers for Trump and Cruz. I know Carson's Iowa guy, Huckebee's guy, hate the a-hole who was Perry's guy. Met several times Rubio' s guy, once in his Senate office.

I know these people and the insides of the system.

I can tell you right now that Trump will not win Iowa, he will get second or third.

1. Carson
2. Trump
3.Cruz
4. Probably Rand because the RP people will hang to the end.
I don't predict American politics anymore because I'm far too out of touch with them. But that's the word from the ground in Iowa.

Fixing what already worked

Milo reports on a gaming-oriented charity deciding to expand its focus:
Operation Supply Drop, a well-respected charity established to help veterans ease back into civilian life using video games, and which provided active personnel with care packages featuring consoles and the latest games, is being torn apart. Insiders allege that this is happening at least in part thanks to negative portrayals of games and gamers in the media.

OSD is in crisis after its founder and many senior staff departed this month, citing the incumbent chief executive’s desire to refocus the charity away from video games, using money raised from gamers to fund a shift into mainstream, non-gaming activism.

Ex-Army veteran Captain Stephen Machuga, known online as Shanghai Six, started OSD on November 1, 2010. The charity claims to have raised $8 million since, but Machuga left on 1 November this year after disagreements about the direction of the organisation, and has pledged to launch a new charity called Stack-Up.Org, which will cleave to the original design and spirit of Operation Supply Drop more closely.

Sources close to Operation Supply Drop allege that its chief executive, Glenn Banton, is manoeuvering the charity away from video games, at least in part because recent negative press and a Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode dramatising poor treatment of women in the game industry might make corporate fundraising for gaming-focused programmes difficult, given Banton’s grand ambitions for the charity.

Banton denies this, telling Breitbart that he is “frustrated with this concept of gamer-only water fountains and a trend of not letting non-gamers participate in gaming activities.”
Whatever else this is, it is remarkably stupid. Does Banton think the big breast cancer charities would raise more money if they turned their focus away from breast cancer in the interests of being more inclusive? Without its gaming component, Operation Supply Drop become just another veteran's charity. As a general rule, expanding your focus is a very good way to miss the target.

I have no idea of Banton is an SJW or not, but this does certainly smack of entryism.

Star Wars worked

The good news is that the Strategic Defense Initiative appears to have worked well enough to deter potential enemies from planning to launch orbital missiles. The bad news is, there is a developing alternative to space-based attacks that even the U.S. Navy's superiority at sea can't do much about.
The Kremlin has confirmed “some secret data” was accidentally leaked when Russian TV stations broadcast material apparently showing blueprints from a nuclear torpedo, designed to be used against enemy coastal installations.

During President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with military officials in Sochi, where the development of Russia’s military capabilities were being discussed, a number of TV crews were able to capture footage of a paper that was certainly not meant for public viewing.

The presentation slide titled “Ocean Multipurpose System: Status-6” showed some drawings of a new nuclear submarine weapons system. It is apparently designed to bypass NATO radars and any existing missile defense systems, while also causing heavy damage to “important economic facilities” along the enemy’s coastal regions.

The footnote to the slide stated that Status-6 is intended to cause “assured unacceptable damage” to an adversary force. Its detonation “in the area of the enemy coast” would result in “extensive zones of radioactive contamination” that would ensure that the region would not be used for “military, economic, business or other activity” for a “long time.”

According to the blurred information provided in the slide, the system represents a massive torpedo, designated as “self-propelled underwater vehicle,” with a range of up to 10 thousand kilometers and capable of operating at a depth of up to 1,000 meters.
"Accidentally leaked." Right. Anyhow, this is particularly interesting because we had a submission for Riding the Red Horse vol. 2 that had to be withdrawn due to the fact that it was still under some sort of embargo by the naval service concerned. The torpedoes it described were not so massive, but they were fast and land-launched, and my impression was that they were designed to be used to deny control of the sea in places like the Persian Gulf, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.

4GW isn't the only challenge facing the U.S. Armed Forces. The naval dominance enjoyed by the U.S. Navy since the dawn of the aircraft carrier is on the verge of ending, as the combination of aircraft-killing lasers and long-distance, land-launched torpedoes looks likely to render them as vulnerable, and therefore outdated, as battleships in WWII.

And since the United States is a maritime power, the loss of naval superiority necessarily means the loss of its superpower status.

GOP Establishment prefers Clinton

This Washington Post article demonstrates that there is, in truth, but one bi-factional ruling party:
Less than three months before the kickoff Iowa caucuses, there is growing anxiety bordering on panic among Republican elites about the dominance and durability of Donald Trump and Ben Carson and widespread bewilderment over how to defeat them.

Party leaders and donors fear that nominating either man would have negative ramifications for the GOP ticket up and down the ballot, virtually ensuring a Hillary Rodham Clinton presidency and increasing the odds that the Senate falls into Democratic hands....

The apprehension among some party elites goes beyond electability, according to one Republican strategist who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly about the worries.

“We’re potentially careening down this road of nominating somebody who frankly isn’t fit to be president in terms of the basic ability and temperament to do the job,” this strategist said. “It’s not just that it could be somebody Hillary could destroy electorally, but what if Hillary hits a banana peel and this person becomes president?”

Angst about Trump intensified this week after he made two comments that could prove damaging in a general election. First, he explained his opposition to raising the minimum wage by saying “wages are too high.”

Second, he said he would create a federal “deportation force” to remove the more than 11 million immigrants living in the United States illegally. “To have a leading candidate propose a new federal police force that is going to flush out illegal immigrants across the nation? That’s very disturbing and concerning to me about where that leads Republicans,” said Dick Wadhams, a former GOP chairman in Colorado, a swing state where Republicans are trying to pick up a Senate seat next year.
And one of the biggest concerns to the ruling party is that Trump will lead a nationalist surge against immigration. But keep this in mind when you hear them re-run the old "Most Important Election Ever" song-and-dance and use the Lizard Queen as a scare tactic. They would rather have Hilary as president than either Trump or Carson.

Second time farce

I used to think David Goldman's "Spengler" columns were pretty good. But as time goes on, he seems to be getting almost deranged:
Kissinger’s latest offering has the distinct virtue of reducing the foreign policy Establishment’s thinking to absurdity. Kissinger saw the major powers as fixed entities to be moved around on a geopolitical game board, in a Parker Brothers’ version of the Congress of Vienna or the Treaty of Berlin. He missed the internal decay of the Soviet economy and its strategic consequences–the Russians’ realization in the mid-1980s that they could not compete with the American economy and its capacity to invent new military technologies. It wasn’t quite Stratego, to be sure: Kissinger drew on non-trivial mathematics, for example Thomas Schelling’s game theory. Variables in an equation and tokens on a game-board, though, both remain fixed entities to be arrayed according to given rules. Sometimes the long-term sometimes overtakes the short-term and mugs it.

The internal decay of present and former nation-states from Libya to Afghanistan is even more obvious, and even more germane to the politics of the region. Kissinger’s current recommendations for the Middle East, outlined in an Oct. 16 essay in the Wall Street Journal, treat the region’s players as if they were fixed entities that can be manipulated into a stable balance of power. It is obvious, though, that nothing is fixed about these entities, and this leads Kissinger to torture logic until it expires on the rack. Here for example is a characterization of Iran: “On one level, Iran acts as a legitimate Westphalian state conducting traditional diplomacy, even invoking the safeguards of the international system. At the same time, it organizes and guides nonstate actors seeking regional hegemony based on jihadist principles….The U.S. should be prepared for a dialogue with an Iran returning to its role as a Westphalian state within its established borders.”

One can imagine Iran’s supreme leader attempting to parse Kissinger’s logic: “Westphalian? What is ‘Westphalian?’ I have Googled it, and behold!, it is a kind of ham! The infidel Kissinger likens us to pork!” Iran perhaps the least Westphalian political entity on the planet. It is not a nation-state in any sense of the term but the rump of a collapsed empire, in which Persians comprise barely half of the population, with “Azerbaijanis (16–25+%), Kurds (7–10%), Lurs (c. 7%), Mazandaranis and Gilakis (c. 7%), Arabs (2–3%), Balochi (c. 2%) Turkmens (c. 2%)” making up the rest, according to Wikipedia. Shi’ite messianism and attendant imperial ambitions are its raison d’etre. It is like saying, “Excuse me, Mr. Hyde, but is Dr. Jeykll at home?”

And about what should the United States engage Iran in its “Westphalian” incarnation? “It is preferable for ISIS-held territory to be reconquered either by moderate Sunni forces or outside powers than by Iranian jihadist or imperial forces.” If we had some Westphalian ham, we could have ham-and-eggs, if we had some eggs: if we had “moderate Sunni forces” we could persuade the “Westphalian” Iran to withdraw the “jihadist or imperial” Iran to acquiesce in the reconquest of ISIS-held territories by Sunnis. Then “The reconquered territories should be restored to the local Sunni rule that existed there before the disintegration of both Iraqi and Syrian sovereignty.” Someone should break the news to Dr. Kissinger that Saddam Hussein is dead and that the previous Sunni regime is not available.
Is Iran any less a nation-state than the USA? If diversity is our strength, is it not also the strength of "the rump of a collapsed empire" in which there is still an ethnic majority more solid than a mere "proposition nation"?

And Spengler misses, or more likely, intentionally ignores Kissinger's observations about the breakdown of the Westphalian state. Indeed, some of Man's foremost thinkers about Man's oldest art have been thinking very hard indeed about the implications of what they call "the crisis of the State".

The fact that Kissinger could be - and in my view, observably is - wrong about the dangerous geopolitical situation in which the world finds itself does not mean that either the man or his ideas should be belittled, especially by someone who is so shortsighted that he genuinely believes his people can simply jump to China when their welcome in America finally wears out.

The original Spengler was tragic. This pale imitation smacks of farce.

Danger & Play Brainstorm

There was a little confusion as to time zones since Mike has been traveling. Just to be clear, the closed Brainstorm event for Mike's new Embracing Masculinity book is on Saturday from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Eastern.

And in Castalia House news, I wanted to thank everyone who made the following possible. We're doing our best to bring you the best books we can find and publish, but you're the core support required to make them successful. And while the categories may be a little on the esoteric side, in the long term, don't count us out for one day doing the same in the larger categories as well. But for now, two simultaneous #1 bestsellers isn't bad, especially when you only publish one book each month.

UPDATE: It's also worth noting that in the Military Strategy category, Castalia House currently publishes five of the top 40 bestsellers.

Poland belongs to the Poles

The Polish nationalists are on the march and they're burning the Fourth Reich flag.
Tens of thousands of protesters poured into Warsaw's streets on Wednesday for a demonstration organised by the far right, marching under the slogan "Poland for the Polish" and burning an EU flag.

Police said 25,000 people joined the march, which marked the anniversary of Poland's return to independence after the First World War, while organisers put the numbers at 50,000.

"God, honour, homeland," chanted the protesters as they marched under a sea of red-and-white Polish flags.

Demonstrators trampled and burned a European Union flag at one point, while a banner added to the anti-EU theme with the slogan "EU macht frei" ("Work makes you free" in German), a reference to the slogan over the gates at Auschwitz.

"Yesterday it was Moscow, today it's Brussels which takes away our freedom," chanted one group of protesters.
God, honor, homeland. There are worse causes. And kudos to whoever came up with the "EU macht frei" meme. If the anti-EU campaigners in the UK have any sense whatsoever, we'll be seeing that phrase a lot in the coming year. And for all the Americans who keep saying that Europe is dead, well, I see a lot of pictures of hundreds of thousands of European nationalists marching and taking action.

Where are the American nationalists?

My personal attendance policy

I understand that some SJW on wheels (and does anyone know if "wheelchair" trumps "black", "woman", or "cyberviolence survivor" in the SJW hierarchy?), recently followed the lead of Mr. Scalzi and others in announcing a Personal Policy regarding future convention attendance.

Since attendance polices are apparently now a Thing in the science fiction world, I decided I would be remiss should I fail to do likewise. Therefore, I am pleased to present the official Vox Day Personal Convention Attendance Policy:
  • Offer an public statement on the convention website, and a written statement to me submitting to my Supreme Dark Lordship and offering specifics about tributes and sacrifices that will be offered to honor me throughout the course of the event.
  • A sign over the venue entrance no smaller than 1.6 meters by one meter with the following words inscribed: "SJW delenda est".
  • All SJWs in attendance are to be clearly identified with rainbow badges and bar codes. Their next-of-kin shall be notified by convention personnel within 36 hours of the end of the event.
  • One throne of bones constructed with four silvered skulls; the seat and backrest should be either royal blue or blood-red velvet. The throne shall be placed stage right with sufficient room behind for no less than four armored minions.
  • An Unsafe Space which only Evil Legion of Evil members, minions, and their invited victims are permitted to enter. It must be equipped with an original Intellivision system and no less than 10 games (not including Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack), a Nespresso machine with Ristretto and Canella capsules, 12 bottles of Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG, and either a) a floor-drainage system or b) a large, high-quality wet vac.
I am, granted, only the Supreme Dark Lord of the Evil Legion of Evil, with a mere 456 Vile Faceless Minions at my every whim, beck, and call, but I’m a cruel and arrogant voice that can no longer use my money and time to support conventions that cannot take the time to ensure that my dark reign is not properly recognized. You literally cannot pay me to attend a convention without a submission policy.

That's what they don't get

See, I'M the nice one in the family. I mean, sure, I might have the massive piles of skulls and everything scattered around the lair, to say nothing of a heating system powered by burning rendered SJW fat, but all the various desecrations and violations and devourings by the Vile Faceless Minions are strictly post-mortem.

Spacebunny, on the other hand, usually prefers to play with the living....

There is more. It's pretty funny, actually. It's as if Veggie Tales met the Hugo Awards and they smoked a little peyote-spiked weed together.

Self-promotion advice with John Scalzi!

#DearVeronica ,In this tech age, how should a novice novelist make an impression and promote his book to grab attention of a lot of people?
— Rajat Joshi (@MrRajatJoshi) August 14, 2015

John Scalzi, author of some of my favorite books, is here to help Rajat out!
The answer, as everyone who has read SJWAL knows, is easy: lie about your blog traffic.

After all, who doesn't want to read a book by someone with 2 MILLION MONTHLY PAGEVIEWS!

Shunning the SFF-SJWs

From File 770 comes word that two-time World Fantasy Award-winner S.T. Joshi understands that the correct way to deal with SJWs is to reject them, their ideas, and their infested organizations alike.
It has come to my attention that the World Fantasy Convention has decided to replace the bust of H. P. Lovecraft that constitutes the World Fantasy Award with some other figure. Evidently this move was meant to placate the shrill whining of a handful of social justice warriors who believe that a “vicious racist” like Lovecraft has no business being honoured by such an award. (Let it pass that analogous accusations could be made about Bram Stoker and John W. Campbell, Jr., who also have awards named after them. These figures do not seem to elicit the outrage of the SJWs.) Accordingly, I have returned my two World Fantasy Awards to the co-chairman of the WFC board, David G. Hartwell. Here is my letter to him:

Mr. David G. Hartwell
Tor Books
175 Fifth Avenue
New York, NY 10010

Dear Mr. Hartwell:

I was deeply disappointed with the decision of the World Fantasy Convention to discard the bust of H. P. Lovecraft as the emblem of the World Fantasy Award. The decision seems to me a craven yielding to the worst sort of political correctness and an explicit acceptance of the crude, ignorant, and tendentious slanders against Lovecraft propagated by a small but noisy band of agitators.

I feel I have no alternative but to return my two World Fantasy Awards, as they now strike me as irremediably tainted. Please find them enclosed. You can dispose of them as you see fit.

Please make sure that I am not nominated for any future World Fantasy Award. I will not accept the award if it is bestowed upon me.

I will never attend another World Fantasy Convention as long as I live. And I will do everything in my power to urge a boycott of the World Fantasy Convention among my many friends and colleagues.

    Yours,
    S. T. Joshi

And that is all I will have to say on this ridiculous matter. If anyone feels that Lovecraft’s perennially ascending celebrity, reputation, and influence will suffer the slightest diminution as a result of this silly kerfuffle, they are very much mistaken.
No respect. No contact. No validation. No mercy. No quarter. Those who have read SJWAL have seen that their very worst vituperation is best taken as praise, and their nominal praise is worth less than nothing. I received the following email this morning:

I just got your book in the mail today and am into the prologue and I had to put it down to email you to just plain thank you for writing it. I wish I could hear my enemies sing my praises the way your enemies sing yours.
A man is defined by his enemies as well as by his friends. S.T. Joshi, although a Man of the Left, has done very well indeed to refuse to accept the accolades of the SJWs. And note that, once more, it is TOR BOOKS that is right at the heart of the SJW infestation in science fiction and fantasy.

Can't say we weren't warned

The Chateau digs up an early warning about the inevitable effects of immigration on America:
We find that our democratic theories and forms of government were fashioned by but one of the many races and peoples which have come within their practical operation, and that that race, the so-called Anglo-Saxon, developed them out of its own insular experience unhampered by inroads of alien stock. When once thus established in England and further developed in America we find that other races and peoples, accustomed to despotism and even savagery, and wholly unused to self-government, have been thrust into the delicate fabric. Like a practical people as we pride ourselves, we have begun actually to despotize our institutions in order to control these dissident elements, though still optimistically holding that we retain the original democracy.
Of course, economist John R. Commons was far from the first to observe the obvious:
“Another cause of revolution is difference of races which do not at once acquire a common spirit; for a state is not the growth of a day, any more than it grows out of a multitude brought together by accident. Hence the reception of strangers in colonies, either at the time of their foundation or afterwards, has generally produced revolution; for example, the Achaeans who joined the Troezenians in the foundation of Sybaris, becoming later the more numerous, expelled them; hence the curse fell upon Sybaris. At Thurii the Sybarites quarrelled with their fellow-colonists; thinking that the land belonged to them, they wanted too much of it and were driven out. At Byzantium the new colonists were detected in a conspiracy, and were expelled by force of arms; the people of Antissa, who had received the Chian exiles, fought with them, and drove them out; and the Zancleans, after having received the Samians, were driven by them out of their own city. The citizens of Apollonia on the Euxine, after the introduction of a fresh body of colonists, had a revolution; the Syracusans, after the expulsion of their tyrants, having admitted strangers and mercenaries to the rights of citizenship, quarrelled and came to blows; the people of Amphipolis, having received Chalcidian colonists, were nearly all expelled by them.”
And yes, that would be Aristotle, from the Politics

4th Generation Warfare Handbook

Written by the author of the landmark Maneuver Warfare Handbook and an active-duty USMC officer with experience in Iraq, 4th Generation Warfare Handbook is the doctrine for a new generation of war. Over the last 40 years, the world has gradually entered into a post-Clausewitzian state where the wars are undeclared, the battlefields can be anywhere, the uniforms are optional, and the combatants as well as the targets are often "civilian". Conventional militaries have repeatedly attempted to utilize technology to meet the new challenges posed, but even the most advanced technology has provided little more than meaningless short-term victories rendered futile in months, if not weeks.

This inability of Western governments and militaries to come to terms with the changing nature of modern warfare has led to failed interventions, failed occupations, and now even failed states everywhere from Eastern Europe to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. And with the recent mass movement of peoples around the world, 4th Generation Warfare can be safely expected to appear in Western Europe and the United States before long.

Drawing on their decades of experience with military history and military action, the authors have distilled 4GW theory into a short, concise, easily accessible handbook that provides the soldier, the military analyst, and the civilian observer with a guide to understanding and responding to the changing realities of this challenging new form of war.

4th Generation Warfare Handbook is now available on Amazon for $6.99. If you preordered, you are eligible for a special Brainstorm event featuring the authors. Please send me an email with PREORDER in the subject if you wish to attend; the event has not yet been scheduled.

In an interesting juxtaposition, last night I finished putting the accepted submissions to There Will Be War Vol X in order. What was interesting was that the other non-fiction submissions tended to underline the importance of this handbook, as they both a) appealed to the use of new technology or a combination of 2nd and 3rd Generation tactics, and, b) indicated the need for the very sort of 4GW counterforce that Lind and LtCol Thiele describe in detail in 4th Generation Warfare Handbook. If you're interested in reading more about 4GW theory, you'll definitely want to read On War, which is now available on Kindle Unlimited, in which you can see how Lind gradually refined his thinking on the subject.

It will be interesting to see if this handbook eventually becomes officially adopted in the way its predecessor did in the 1980s. In any event, a belated Happy Birthday, Marines. Hope you like your new doctrine!

The devolution of the SJW

John C. Wright explains the three stages of devolution into SJW:
The SJWs are not bad people. Not at first. Even Lucifer was not totally wretched and evil at first.

That is the important thing to remember.

They are good people with a bad theory who are addicted, like a cocaine addict, to the rush of ego-gratification that comes from self-righteousness.

The Morlocks once were human, once dwelt on the surface, under the sun, and once ate wholesome meats, and did not feast on human flesh. It takes several steps pf evolution to go from being a good man to being a subhuman troglodyte cannibal. Not all have taken all the steps

It is a three stage trap into which they fall, and at each stage, for the best of reasons.

The first stage is an appeal to their sense of fairplay not to make a decision until all the facts are in, not to condemn the wicked until they are proved wicked, and to question everything, to question authority.

But this first stage trap closes when their sense of fairplay comes to the conclusion that no authority, not the authority of morality, not the authority of reason, not the authority of logic, can sit in judgment on any matter. They become so open minded that their brains fall out. They cease to reason in the name of fairplay.

Call this the Appeal to Equality. If all men are equal, no man’s opinion is better than any others’, and so there is no such thing as a right man and the wrong man, a right answer and a wrong answer, a civilized culture or barbaric one. The Appeal to Equality says that to think one answer correct and the other wrong, one behavior a vice and another a virtue, is a hasty judgment, even bigotry.

Reasoning becomes a hate crime.

Once they cease to reason, that is, cease to look at facts for answers, they are thrown back on their emotions and nothing else for a standard of judgment by which to organized their lives, and to build their model of the universe.

At this point, have lost the civilized gift of reason, they are barbarians.
As I said in SJWAL, it was not my purpose to explain the existence of SJWs or attempt to understand them in any way, but merely to describe and anticipate their actions. John Wright has proceeded with the obvious next steps in the process, which is to understand how this intellectual descent of Man takes place, and as always, his perspective is both informative and entertaining.

The collapse of the publishing industry

The New York Times missed the real story when it wrote about a nonexistent decline in ebook sales. Unsurprisingly, Fortune manages to do rather better in observing that the decline is limited to the traditional publishers, who are losing out to their smaller rivals:
A recent piece in the New York Times about a decline in e-book sales had more than a whiff of anti-digital Schadenfreude about it. The story, which was based on sales figures from the Association of American Publishers, implied that much of the hype around e-books had evaporated — with sales falling by 10% in the first half of this year — while good old printed books were doing better than everyone expected.

This was celebrated by many as evidence that e-books aren’t all they are cracked up to be, and that consumers are swinging back to printed books. But is that an accurate reflection of what’s actually taking place in the book-publishing or book-buying market? Not really, as it turns out.

When I first saw the story, I thought it raised two important questions, neither of which was really answered conclusively in the piece (although the second was hinted at). Namely: 1) Are e-book sales as a whole dropping, or just the sales of the publishers who are members of the AAP? And 2) Isn’t a drop in sales just a natural outcome of the publishers’ move to keep e-book prices high?

Data from the site Author Earnings, which tracks a broad spectrum of information related to digital publishing, suggests that both of those things are true. In other words, a decline in market share on the part of established publishers is being taken as evidence of a drop in e-book sales overall, and at least some of the falloff in market share that publishers have seen is likely the result of high e-book prices.
What's really happening is that overall sales are remaining close to flat, but the mainstream publishers are rapidly losing out to small and independent publishers. I jazzed up Hugh Howey's Author Earnings report to make it more obvious what has been happening over the last 15 months, which just happens to coincide with the birth of Castalia House.

The price of free trade

Remember when the idea was that offshoring all the manufacturing jobs would lead to better, higher-paying jobs in technology? Yeah, about that....
The IT workers at Cengage Learning in the company's Mason, Ohio offices learned of their fates game-show style. First, they were told to gather in a large conference room. There were vague remarks from an IT executive about a "transition." Slides were shown that listed employee names, directing them to one of three rooms where they would be told specifically what was happening to them. Some employees were cold with worry.

The biggest group, those getting pink slips, were told to remain in the large conference room. Workers directed to go through what we'll call Door No. 2, were offered employment with IT offshore outsourcing firm Cognizant. That was the smallest group. And those sent through Door No. 3 remained employed in Cengage's IT department. This happened in mid-October.

"I was so furious," said one of the IT workers over what happened. It seemed "surreal," said another. There was disbelief, but little surprise. Cengage, a major producer of educational content and services, had outsourced accounting services earlier in the year. The IT workers rightly believed they were next.

The employees were warned that speaking to the news media meant loss of severance. Despite their fears, they want their story told. They want people to know what's happening to IT jobs in the heartland. They don't want the offshoring of their livelihoods to pass in silence.

The Web-based workers that the Cengage employees are training to take over their jobs are believed to be in India. Cognizant applies for thousands of H-1B visas annually, and is one of the top three users of the visa, according to government data. Cengage employees reached for comment didn't know what visa, if any, the contract workers in their offices were using.
There are four things you need to keep in mind if you are an ardent free trader:
  1. The arguments justifying free trade have always been entirely theoretical, not empirical. In this way, they are no different than the incorrect pre-scientific logical conclusions that were subsequently proven to be false by modern science. At the time they were formulated, inexpensive shipping, the free movement of capital, and the mass movement of labor were unknown.
  2. The USA historically enjoyed its fastest periods of economic growth under protectionist, restricted-immigration periods.
  3. The post-WWII growth was not the result of any trade or economic policies, but a positive application of Broken Window theory. Every other industrial nation had its industrial capacity smashed, so the US benefited from an intrinsic infrastructural advantage for around 25 years.
  4. Free trade levels all prices throughout the market. That's why a cashier in Miami gets paid about the same amount as a cashier in Portland. Even if free trade increases the overall amount of global economic growth, in doing so, it necessarily reduces wages and standards of living in the wealthier nations to bring them more in line with the wages and standards of living in the poorest nations.
Look, I was an ardent theoretical free trader for decades. I know the pro-free trade arguments better than you do; my father gave me Free to Choose to read when I was ten years old. But the fact is, the theoretical arguments are incorrect; the conclusions their logic predicted have turned out to be observably wrong.

And perhaps you remember what I wrote about how half of all young Americans will have to leave the country in order to find work under a true global free trade regime?  The stage for that is already being set.
Offshore outsourcing is having "a fairly strong impact" on IT employment, said Janulaitis. Students coming out of college are facing trouble starting a career "and a lot of that is driven by jobs that are taken by non-U.S. nationals in our economy, and a lot of that is H-1B [visa holders]," he said.
