The full marathon loop course is a scenic tour of San Francisco. Runners begin on the Embarcadero, run along Chrissy Field, cross the road bed of the Golden Gate Bridge, run through Golden Gate Park, Haight Ashbury, around AT&t Park and more!
The 1st Half marathon race starts on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, passes through Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf, crosses the roadbed of the Golden Gate Bridge and ends in beautiful Golden Gate Park.
The 2nd Half Marathon race starts at Spreckel’s Lake in Golden Gate Park and finishes on the Embarcadero alongside the Main Marathon Finish Line. It passes through Haight/Ashbury, the Mission District, into Mission Bay, and passes AT&T Park, finishing just before the Ferry Building alongside the Main Marathon Finish Line.
The 5K race starts just south of the Historic Ferry Building. The course heads south from the start with views of the Bay, Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge. At the base of the Bay Bridge the course loops around and heads north with sights to see like the top of the Transamerica Building and Coit Tower nestled on top of the San Francisco hills. The course continues north just until you hit the edge of Fisherman’s Wharf where runners will turn back around and head for the finish line located just north of the Ferry Building.
Ultramarathon participants will run the 26.2 mile marathon loop course twice: in the opposite direction for the first loop and then run with the official San Francisco FULL Marathon for the second loop.
With 26-week, 18-week, 12-week and 8-week programs, our official Bay Area training program readies runners for race day.
