Starting today, I want to do something different with my blog.
Too often, I find myself pointing out what’s wrong in the world of Christianity rather than emphasizing the good. I believe there is too much division in the body of Christ already, and I’ve done nothing towards bringing people together. I have readers who agree with the majority of what I write, but in a sense, that creates more division between us and others. I am adamant about loving the lost unconditionally, but I easily forget to offer that same love to my fellow brothers and sisters.
Social media has become the battleground of political, theological and opinionated wars that rage with fueled intensity, fanned by words that bring about more damage than healing. Something needs to change.
I am one voice in a sea of billions on a platform that is barely noticed, but I have decided to do my part in seeking unity.
Each day, I want to publish a short post that uplifts, encourages and edifies the Body. The tongue contains the power of life and death. Our words are extremely important and powerful. The things we say matter. They echo throughout all of eternity.
And people are listening.
Today’s message is simple. Be kind to everyone. We all have troubles and difficult situations to endure. That’s just part of life. Whether we want to admit it or not, we need each other along this journey. If we can come together and stand shoulder to shoulder, we will find that we aren’t as different from one another as we think. Open your minds, hearts and arms to those around you.
Let’s be the change we want to see in this world.
