Five Frames From ?

Finn Wittrock Eleven Times

.
To be honest it hurts my heart looking at these sexy pictures of Finn today (via, thx Mac) -- I've been trying day in and day out to win tickets to see him and Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo's staging of Othello on stage here in NYC, but I haven't had any luck after weeks and weeks of it, and there's only about a week of the show left. So I'm thinking my luck (or lack thereof) has run out.

(See pics from the show here.) You'd think that all the free press I've given these dudes over the years they could've thrown me a bone by way of a ticket (or possibly other ways you throw "a bone") but no, they just leave me to sit in the corner eating wet cigarette butts. So be it. Hit the jump for more of treacherous, hot Finn...

Do Dump or Marry: Gentlemen Movie Stars of '42

.
Inspired by today's list of my favorite movies of 1942 - see that right here! - I realized that a couple of my choices for Runners-up movies were given that designation mostly so I could post pictures of the movie's leading men looking their finest. Gentleman Jim starring Errol Flynn as a boxer is just okay...

... The Black Swan starring Tyrone Power as a pirate is just okay, and The Pride of the Yankees starring Gary Cooper as a baseball player is just okay, but none of them are favorites really... save the fact that I'll google those fellas in those specific movie's costumes every so often.

So let's Do Dump or Marry them then!
Give your picks in the comments...

5 Off My Head: Siri Says 1942

.
And now we're back, from outer space -- that is if "my living-room floor" falls under the definition of "outer space" (there's no gravity when your spine gives in) -- and let us not look upon each other with sad looks upon our faces but rather joy, for it's time for one of our "Siri Says" series, in which I ask my cell phone to choose a number between 1 and 100 and we then choose our five favorite movies from the corresponding year.

Today we got stuck with 1942 (all of these movies are turning 75 this year!) and at first I thought this would be a tough one - a lot of titles weren't jumping off the year's Wikipedia list at me. But then I started investigating closer, and realized I'd just forgotten the titles of several movies - there are actually a whole lot of movies from 1942 that I love. So many that narrowing it down to only 5 was a tough nut to crack.

I managed, with some elbow grease brain-wise, but the runners-up should be thought of as a special bunch too. I mean a Hitchcock movie actually didn't make my top five - that's when you know something's nutty...

Good Morning, World

.
I shared a clip and several gifs from this exact scene in Trespass Against Us, Michael Fassbender's new movie out on January 20th, awhile back, but this picture is a nice high quality picture (click to embiggen) that I had not seen at the time, so why not share it now? It's summing up this morning's mood pretty spot-on, anyway.

Zac Efron's Offering Free Mouth to Mouth

.
A new red-band international trailer for the Baywatch movie with The Rock and Zac Efron has been released, but it's only red-band for some foul language - not once does Zac Efron pull down his red shorts and show us what religion he is, or even just suck on The Rock's butt. What kind of a Baywatch movie is this anyway? I'm personally morally offended. My soul is best described by this gif:

In case you missed the US trailer you can
see it here, but I think this new one's actually better:

Matthias Making Stupid Faces

.
I'm not being mean (please never think me mean, Matty!) - he captioned the above picture "Apparently it's great to be stupid" himself, so that's all I was referring to. Anyway I'm tempted to ask y'all which picture you find hotter -  the one above or the one in a tux below that he posted yesterday - but I know my audience, and that's not really a competition.

But I do need to ask two questions - was he at the Globes last night? The tux makes me wonder and yet I didn't see him there. And two, in the shirtless shot up top he looks like he's bulking up again, no? He looks pretty gigantic. Wonder what that's for (besides my filthy night-time fantasies, of course)...

Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... stirring up some bubbles
under the surface with Jake Gyllenhaal.

I think it's safe to assume that The "Great Sweaty Influx of Jake at the Beach Pictures of 2017" has come to and end with this here batch of him getting his snorkel on. He was, after all, spotted once or twice at the Globes last night, and unless he hopped right back on a jet-plane after the show - which would be fine with me! - we can probably consider this our grand finale.

It's not a half too shabby way to go. In case you happened to miss the previous posts let's round 'em up - first we posted over 100 pictures right here. Then there was a batch of a couple dozen more right here. Then there was what I thought was the last bunch we posted on Friday right here. Overall...

... I would say that this was a successful vacation for all of us. I personally feel relaxed after looking through them; Jake looked fit and tan in his tuxedo at the awards show last night (don't miss these pics of him getting prepped in his hotel room that I posted on Tumblr!) - win win. And now we'll hit the jump for around 40 more pictures to get off to I mean get it out of our systems with okay no I really mean get off to...

You Shine Up Like A New Schoenaerts

.
This deserves its own post but it's related to our immediately previous post about Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria - that picture there of someone under bloody bandages that we posted links to another Instagram, that of the film's make-up artist named Fernanda Lucia Perez. As with most of Guadagnino's team it seems she's been working with him for awhile, and this picture here is of her showing off that this has given her The Greatest Job In All The World - that of slathering make-up on the body of a half-naked Matthias Schoenaerts on the set of A Bigger Splash. GOOD GRIEF.

And speaking of Luca Guadagnino his casting director Stella Savino has a great Instagram to follow if you want to know what's up with his ever-fascinating projects. It was how I was often able to be such an unrelenting spazz about the shooting Call Me By Your Name (here a Hammer there a Hammer) and now it appears that I can ramp up my spazziness anew because shooting on (or scouting locations for, at least) Luca's remake of Dario Argento's Suspiria (with Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz) is happening! Or... has already happened? I'm not sure where the shooting stands (she uses the hashtag "wraptime" on the most recent shot) but check Stella's feed for a couple more vague yet scary shots.

Little Mister Sunshine

.
When I saw the news late on Friday that Luca Guadagnino's film version of Andre Acimen's gay novel Call Me By Your Name - which we have been talking a lot about here! - sold to Sony Pictures Classics before it even screens at Sundance I set it aside to report on today as a blurb, probably - that's not major news; it's not a release date or anything. I don't much care who releases the thing - I just want it as soon as I can have it!

But somehow in my "it's the weekend, run!' mindset I missed the other tidbit, the big one, buried in that story (thx GS) -- which is that Sufjan Stevens - someone else who we talk a lot about here! - is doing the music for the movie. What what WHAT!?!? They say it will be "original songs written and performed by" him - not sure if they mean songs with lyrics or just an orchestral score but I'm guessing the latter, which is perfectly and totally within Sufjan's multi-talented wheelhouse.
.
He did the music for another movie you have maybe seen - something called Little Miss Sunshine? And he's done a couple small docs, too. Anyway I know it's been a pastime of mine ever since I first started listening to Sufjan 15 years ago or so to openly speculate on Suffy's sexuality (look at this post from 2006, hahaha good grief) but since some of the lyrics his last album Carrie & Lowell were gayer than Freddie Mercury's home perm I've decided to leave him be. I mean, he had to know, taking on this job anyway... anyway. I can't wait to see how he scores the peach scene!

City of Stars

.
Y'all know I'm a cynic and a disbeliever when it comes to statues actors pass out to one another but when I see people who deserve little foil-stars slapped on their progress reports getting them I still can't help but smile, and so it goes when I look at that picture of Isabelle Huppert and Paul Verhoeven with a matching pair of Hers-n-His globules. That's happy!

So now I take a beautiful thing and I make it hard: for today's edition of "Beauty vs Beast" over at The Film Experience I am making you pick between last night's Best Actress winners, Drama and Comedy/Musical edition. Click on over to vote. Good luck, Emma Stone! I don't envy anybody in competition with Isabelle Huppert, honestly. Be careful when you put your hands in your pockets...

SpideyPool Lives

.
Deadpool & Spider-man are totally an internet thing (if you go to the right websites, anyway) so methinks that Ryan Reynolds & Andy Garfield knew what they were doing when they got...

... intimate during the Golden Globes last night. It will probably end up being the most giffed moment, even more than the Barb sequence in the opening number. And being Most Giffed is what matters. Seriously though that's how you do gay-baiting right, unlike that tone-deaf opening number, Mr. Fallon.
.

Good Morning, World

.
I was gonna be nice and give you a shot of Aaron Johnson soaking in a bathtub in the movie Savages this morning to celebrate his Golden Globes win last night... then I was going to be mean and gif the moment in Nocturnal Animals where he wipes his ass on screen. Lucky for us all (as far as the second instinct's concerned) I went for a middle-ground and just took a couple of snapshots of the Nocturnal scene, sans the wiping.

I'm a real generous soul. It is just a little early on a Monday morning for all of that - I get it. Anyway I liked Nocturnal Animals more than most people seemed to (well people not named the Hollywood Foreign Press Association anyway) but I still think AJ winning a prize for it's a little bit goofy. My most popular (and yes, kinda mean) tweet of the night last night...
.

.
... reflects that. I regret nothing. Well maybe that second drink last night - I've got a wicked hangover this morning. If only I too had time to luxuriate on my morning stoop toilet with a smoke and no cares in the world like some lucky beautiful people do...

Joel's Got Your Globes Right Here

.
I feel as if I ought to set us out onto this Golden Globes weekend (why does that phrase make me immediately picture a Viking funeral?) with some prognostications for the winners or something of that sort, but I really had no idea that the awards were even on this weekend until last night. Thankfully I hadn't made plans for Sunday so you can bet I'll be doing whatever the Twitter equivalent of "drunken slurring" is (it is also called "drunken slurring") so follow me on Twitter for that fun.

But please if you want to tell me who you're rooting for in the comments, do! If you did that would actually totally help me figure out who to give a shit about (besides COLIN FARRELL IN THE LOBSTER, obviously) because I tried going through the list of nominees today and my eyes rolled back into my head so far I am still ogling brains. Let's hope that whatever happens Joel Egderton & Chris Pine are seated close to one another because they really like to touch each other, you guys...
