Add, delete & organize pages
Note: This section is for New Google Sites (at the bottom right, you'll see Create ). Get help with Classic Google Sites.
Add a page
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- Point to Add
.
- Click New page
.
- Enter the page name.
- Click Done.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Copy or delete a page
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- On the page you want to duplicate, click More
.
- To copy a page, choose Duplicate page.
- To delete a page, choose Remove page from site.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Organize your pages
You can move a page under another page to create a subpage.
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- Drag the page where you want to move it.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Create a new subpage
To create a new subpage, click Pages .Then, choose a page and click More
Add subpage.
Note: You can create up to 5 levels of sub pages.
Choose your homepage
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- Choose a page and click More
Set as home page.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
You can create a custom path to a page on your site.
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- Choose a page and click More
Settings.
- Click Advanced
Custom path
enter the path you’d like to use.
- Click Done.
- On your computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- Click the page with the menu you want to update.
- At the right, point to Add
.
- Click New link
.
- Add a link name.
- Add a web address or choose a page from your site.
- Click Done.
Hide a page
When you hide a page, it won’t show up in the menu, but people can still get to it with a link.
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- At the right, click Pages.
- On the page you want to hide, click More
Hide from navigation.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
You can’t hide the home page, but when you hide any other page:
- Subpages are also hidden.
- Other sites and pages can link to the page.

Add or edit headers & footers
The header and footer are the areas at the top and bottom of each page on your Google site.
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- Point to the header and click Change image.
- Click Upload or Select image.
- Upload or choose an image and click Open or Select.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- Point to the header and click Header type.
- Choose a size for the header.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
- On a computer, open a site in New Google Sites.
- Point to the bottom of the page and click Add footer or Edit footer.
- Enter your text or make other edits.
- To change the background, point at the highlighted box. At the left, click Background
.

- When done, click anywhere else on the page.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
To hide a footer, point to the footer, and at the bottom left click Hide .
Classic Google Sites
Note: This section is for Classic Google Sites (at the top left, you'll see "Create"). Get help with New Google Sites.
Create, delete, or move a page
Add a page
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- At the top right, click Create page
.
- Name the page.
- Choose a page template.
- Web page: Text, images, and embedded gadgets.
- Announcements: Blog posts or other updates.
- File cabinet: Upload files.
- List: Tasks.
- Start page: Embedded gadgets for school or work accounts only.
- Under "Select a location," choose where to put the page.
- Click Create.
Copy a page
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- Click the page you want to copy.
- At the top right, click More actions
Copy page.
- Name the page.
- Under "Select a location," choose where to put the page.
- Click Copy.
Delete a page
When you delete a page, you also delete its attachments, comments, and sub-pages.
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- Click the page you want to delete.
- At the top right, click More actions
Delete page.
- Click Delete.
Restore a deleted page
If you deleted a page within the last 30 days, you can restore it.
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- At the top right, click More actions
Manage site.
- On the left, click Deleted items.
- Select the page you want to restore and click Recover.
Move a page
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- Click the page you want to move.
- At the top right, click More actions
Move page.
- Find where you want to move the page.
- Click Move.
Create a page template
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- At the top right, click More actions
Manage site.
- On the left, click Page templates
Create page template.
- Enter a template name and click Create.
- Make changes to the template, then click Save.
Tip: To create a template from a page on your site, at the top right, click More actions
Save as page template.
Create a site template
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- At the top right, click More actions
Manage site.
- Click Publish this site as a template. If you don’t see this option, you can’t share your site as a template.
- Enter a template name and description.
- Click Submit.
Edit HTML to change how your page looks
You can edit the code of your page to create a custom page layout.
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- Choose the page you want to edit and click Edit page
.
- In the toolbar, click <HTML>.
- Make changes to the HTML code and click Update.
- On a computer, open a site in Classic Google Sites.
- At the top right, click More actions
Manage site.
- Under "Landing page," click Change.
- Pick the page you want to use
click Ok.
- At the top left, click Save.
