This was a quick snapshot while I was crossing the street, so my camera was just in auto mode. The most important thing is to shoot in RAW so you can do post-processing without degrading quality.

Here is the original photo straight from the camera. I edited it in Lightroom. It was just a quick and dirty edit, I used a a preset that I had downloaded, which basically made the photo a bit more contrasty, less saturated, gave it a green tint, and added grain. Then I turned down the highlights all the way (to try to salvage some parts of the photo that are blown out in the light), raised the shadows a bit (to get a little more detail in the El that was lost in the preset) and added a subtle vignette (because the photo is symmetrical and I wanted attention to be drawn to the middle of it). I also enabled Lens Profile and set Upright Perspective to Auto, which corrects the lens distortion and the perspective (didn't make a huge difference here but it's something I always do).
