I cannot recommend this enough. I bought this based on recommendations here before a deployment that I’m 3 months into. I use it every day and it blows away other lights that are 4+ times the price.

Modern planes don't have magnetic compasses, except for maybe a backup whiskey compass on the dashboard. Any cargo would be way to far away from that.

Direction comes from Inertial Navigation. Gyros actually detect rotation of the earth on startup.
