Biggs Darklighter graduated from the Imperial Academy and had a sudden change of heart. On a trip back home to Tatooine, he told his friend Luke about the oppression of the Empire and the virtues of joining the Rebel Alliance. The legendary Battle of Yavin would see the destruction of the Imperial Death Star, but also the end of Biggs, shot down and killed by Darth Vader, who he would never learn was his best friend's father.
Luke Skywalker Spendind days tending to the Lars family farm, Luke Skywalker started flying through Beggar's Canyon with his friend Biggs at a young age. When Biggs finally left Tatooine to join the Imperial Academy, it was without his best friend Luke. Later, on Yavin 4, the old friends would meet up and finally achieve their dream of piloting fighters together, but all too briefly.
