At this point I think I have clarified things sufficiently. The bonds between individuals must transcend political loyalties if our politics is to remain humane. We can, and must, love each other, even when we disagree over policy and party.

I disagree. Politics is about power. Those who seek it use morality as their cover to try to divide us, for their purposes, into the moral and immoral. These are forces we must resist by remembering that political differences are not indications of evil.

That’s an interesting observation. I’m not sure it’s true that political polarity is _most_ apparent in software; but there certainly is a concentration of it. This may be an accident of geography. Or there might be something deeper.

Bill Clinton defeated George H. W. Bush in the presidential election of 1992. Later, Clinton and Bush became very good friends. For them, friendship was more important than politics. This is something we should all admire and emulate.

When I started coding a year ago, I did 20-30 min at a time, and that was an accomplishment. As I fell in love with coding, I overcame the impossible and found 2-4 hours a day to code. We all start somewhere. Don’t let someone else’s reality affect yours. #momscancode #codenewbie

That’s the first time anyone has called me apathetic about politics. <giggle>. Politics is a big part of my life. But my friendships supersede it. I have many joyous political debates with friends I disagree with.

I always read the replies. It’s a wonderful learning experience. Of course many folks were triggered by the statement because they presumed I meant that politics is not important. Of course politics is very important; just not as important as good friends.
