Exciting news from my former editor, who's looking to hire three reporters (including one data reporter) in St. Louis to report on health care

This is ... not the ideal way to appeal to swing voters while also being boldly progressive.

These two charts were used to justify the grand claim that American workers have been enjoying “the hottest labor market in 50 years.” Can you spot the problem?

Almost half of Democratic voters identify as either moderates or conservatives. And more than half of Democrats want their party to move to the center rather than the left. The 2020 candidates can do so without abandoning progressive values.

It's possible be to strongly progressive and still appeal to moderate voters. The 2020 Democrats should try harder to do so.

The odds that the Democrats ultimately impeach Trump? I say 29%.

These three tweets are an excellent illustration of the fact that the arc of the Left’s imagination is long, but it bends toward infighting over perceived slights.

Gosh, if evidence ever came out of the president failing to pay his taxes or lying to a financial institution this hearing will have produced some very embarrassing clips of shocked and outraged Republicans who just can’t believe a person would engage is such deceitful behavior.

So far the only person in this hearing who has shot down the substance of a negative story about Trump has been ... Michael Cohen.

New York accents in the national spotlight always bring me a little bit of joy. (eg Colin Powell, Janet Yellen, Bernie Sanders, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor, Antonin Scalia...)

Obama did a lot to fight poverty. But the new crop of Democratic candidates are even more focused on the issue.

A response to thoughtful pieces from and . And, no, the title isn't clickbait. I do think our polarization is so severe that enacting sweeping changes with bare, temporary Senate majorities would cause a series of political traumas:
