Some sleepers on Earth have a long, relaxed soft palate that falls backward under the force of gravity against the back of the throat. The soft palate partially blocks the airway & vibrates like a reed as the sleeper breathes, i.e. snoring. This doesn’t happen in weightlessness.

Yes, I always wanted to be an astronaut. I decided to turn myself into one when I was 9. And yes, it took a lot of studying. It still does!
