בכל מדינה כמעט לא חסרות בעיות ומחלוקות פנימיות. בכל מדינה שמשתתפת בטורניר נבחרות יש חתך אוכלוסיה "פטריוטי על" שמייצר גל לאומני - ופוליטיקאים שרוכבים עליו. לא שונה מאנגליה, לא שונה מרוסיה, אולי פחות בבלגיה ובצרפת בזכות ההטרוגניות האתנית של הנבחרת.
