On Wednesday, I announced that I will step down as president of @AEI in the summer of 2019. All I can say is thank you--for the kind and generous words you have shared since, and for your support and encouragement over the last decade. wsj.com/articles/refle…

The math of protectionism is pretty simple, and pretty ugly: the benefits from tariffs to domestic firms in protected industries like steelmaking are always less than the costs imposed on the rest of the domestic firms in other industries. @Mark_J_Perry buff.ly/2F9mJ6j

As long as you're not out there drinking at 6:55am, no problem. (The roof top bar closes at 6am.)

In the latest @HarvardBiz issue, I was able to share how treating @AEI like a start-up strengthened our efforts in the competition of ideas. If you're curious about how my colleagues and I manage AEI, you can read the essay here: buff.ly/2Fl3mrS

Yes, competition requires rules of fair play and basic morality. Violence and cheating are common ways people circumvent true competition.

Indeed. Lots of other examples (e.g. GI Bill, interstate highways). To be pro-competition does not mean there are no public goods or claim the government is never beneficial. But also note that NASA’s geniuses were at the center of the global competition of ideas.
