Despite the historic adoption of Genocide Convention & Universal Declaration of Human Rights 70 years ago, the threat of genocide persists. Justice for the Yazidi, Rohingya & all other victims of atrocities should not be delayed or denied. Stmt:

On this International Day, I call on all countries to ratify the Genocide Convention. At a time of rising hatred, racism and xenophobia, let us reaffirm our commitment to upholding the equality and dignity of all.

While the international community was imploring both sides of South Sudan's devastating civil war to lay down their arms, Uganda was breaching the arms embargo by funneling European weapons to those who were doing the killing.

Just finished my last Board meeting. Heading out of Washington on bright winter’s day with the wisdom of Nelson Mandela on my mind: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
