Rainfall from continues to cause extreme flooding & many roads are not safe. If you're in an affected area, do not go outside unless absolutely necessary. If you must go, check which roads are closed first. Above all, remember: TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

Photo showing I-95 I-95 is closed from Exit 181 (SC 38) to Exit 190 (SC 34) due to flooding. The continued impacts of Hurricane Florence have caused flooding throughout Dillon county. There is not a passable detour at this time. Motorists should avoid this area.

[5 AM Sunday] Catastrophic, life-threatening flash flooding risk today across much of NC, portions of SC, & southwest VA. Additional rainfall amounts of 5-10" inches are expected, which will produce flash flooding, river flooding and possible landslides in the mountainous areas.

[Sat PM Update] The latest on Florence rainfall & flash flooding. Radar est. totals show pockets of 20-30" with isolated reports greater than 30". The flash flood risk will continue Sun into western NC & southwest VA where catastrophic flooding and river flooding are likely.

Flooding at ANY time of day is dangerous, but especially at night when it is harder to see. Please be careful and NEVER drive into areas where water covers the road or around road closure signs!

Updated preliminary rainfall reports from Florence received as of 6 pm Saturday evening. With Tropical Storm Florence still crawling slowly to the west at 2 mph, many of these areas will see more heavy rain overnight, further exacerbating the very serious ongoing flooding.

Many major roadways across the state have been closed due to flooding. Due to the current state of many roads, the governor has recommended that out of state motorists avoid traveling through NC and that those in the state avoid traveling if possible.
