Did you hear that from the 700,000 people on a peaceful march against or from the 4000 angry people planning to turn up tomorrow?

We have to argue that Brexit was the wrong answer to the right questions - that this rich country does not work for everyone; that genuine grievances need to be addressed. is absolutely right

This is congitive dissonance. The facts now don’t align with his positive predictions during the referendum campaign. At this stage a critical thinker would change his/her view. Instead he alleviates the dissonance/discomfort between belief and fact with a new justification.

If a general election is a democratic option, so the people can vote us out of the deadlock, then a referendum surely makes more sense. The paralysis is about our EU relationship, not other government policies.

John is right. This is no way to treat any customer - especially frequent travellers. They had bought tickets and had good reason to miss their train. The only way to break the power imbalance between vulnerable foreigners and your mngr was for others to buy them new tickets.

I witnessed the same. It was not ok. Many in the carriage were ashamed people could be treated in this way. I hope if I have children traveling or studying abroad they won’t come up against such inhumane treatment and instead meet with the kindness of strangers.
