Above & Beyond return to the dancefloor with ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, a collection of five heavy-hitting club records, calling back to their instrumental roots. 

The GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats have been quiet of late. Following six months of studio hibernation after their sold-out Group Therapy 500 celebrations at Banc of California Stadium last October, Jono, Paavo and Tony have been busy working on their next extended project. Enter ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 1’, a collection of five heavy-hitting club records, calling back to their instrumental roots. 

Drawing inspiration from all areas of contemporary electronic music, ‘Tranquillity Base Vol. 1’ features five tracks debuted in front of 25,000 fans in Los Angeles last October; ranging from the rolling grooves of ‘Spin Off’, to the darker atmospheric techno of ‘VLEKNO’.
 
The name of the EP series references A&B’s beloved Tranquility Base alias, which was revered for its contribution to the trance genre, including iconic records such as ‘Surrender’, ‘Oceanic’ and ‘Razorfish’. The ‘Tranquility Base EP’ series showcases the current instrumental records firmly lodged in Jono, Paavo and Tony’s record boxes. 

“In the same way the quieter moments on our albums have always been a major part of Above & Beyond, the bigger dancefloor moments have also been a hallmark of our sound” says the trio.

Celebrating the legacy of one of dance music’s most timeless acts, Above & Beyond and Justine Suissa present ‘OceanLab: The Anthology’, a limited edition vinyl box set available for pre-order now on Anjunabeats.

OceanLab is the chart-hitting project of Above & Beyond (Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki) and singer-songwriter Justine Suissa. 

With a discography spanning over two decades - including top 20 UK single ‘Satellite’ (2004), two top 25 UK dance albums (‘Sirens of the Sea’ in 2008 and ‘Sirens of the Sea Remixed’ in 2009), and two top 10 UK dance singles (‘Clear Blue Water’ in 2003, and ‘Satellite’ in 2004) - OceanLab cemented themselves as a seminal dance act with an undeniably unique sound, where Justine Suissa’s compelling voice, lyrics and melodies take centre stage.

Fifteen years after the release of their critically acclaimed 2008 LP, ‘Sirens of the Sea,’ the Anthology box set spans the full spectrum of the OceanLab sound, from early 2000s vocal trance classics to brand new remixes and never-before-heard acoustic reworks. Housed in a premium-quality fabric-wrapped double slipcase with foil detailing, the box features four 12” single discs on crystal clear vinyl, a 10” ‘Another Chance’ single disc, and a special Anthology-edition repress of the original ‘Sirens of the Sea’ album. There is also an accompanying poster print, slipmat, and 28-page perfect-bound book containing notes from the band, never-before-seen photos, and exclusive sheet music arrangements with piano, guitar, and voice parts.

Alongside the box set, Anjunabeats will release a collection of new and catalogue recordings across digital platforms. This includes remastered acoustic mixes of four OceanLab records, with vocals by Justine Suissa. More upcoming releases include long-awaited remixes by Above & Beyond, Anjunabeats label stalwart Genix, Anjunadeep fan-favourite Marsh, and melodic bass pioneer Seven Lions. To top it off, Anjunabeats will release an Anthology digital compilation, encompassing an extensive collection of OceanLab original recordings and remixes.

This year, Above & Beyond were the only British DJs to sell out two consecutive nights at Printworks as part of the iconic London venue’s closing season. Over the summer, their Group Therapy Weekender festival once again saw thousands of Anjunafamily descend on the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State. They also made appearances at Tomorrowland in Belgium and Insomniac's Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. They recently made a return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre to helm two shows alongside label stars from Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Above & Beyond and long-time collaborator Justine Suissa share their first joint effort in over four years, ‘Almost Home’. 

‘Almost Home’ is Above & Beyond’s first club track of 2021, arriving just in time for their Group Therapy 450 milestone show at The Drumsheds in London this September. ABGT450 is their first headline show in over a year, and will see the trio perform to an audience of more than 10,000 fans. Later in September, Above & Beyond embark on the Anjunafamily Reunion Tour, which visits major cities across the U.S.A. including sold-out stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Stanford’s Frost Amphitheater and the world-famous Echostage in D.C. 

Jono, Tony, Paavo and Justine have been working together since 2000 when they formed the group OceanLab. In 2008, they released their first and only album ‘Sirens Of The Sea’,a record that has gained near-mythical status among trance fans. More recently, Above & Beyond and Justine have collaborated on club hits like ‘Alright Now’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Another Chance’, and emotive, downtempo records like ‘Little Something’. 

In 2016, Justine joined Above & Beyond during their sell-out ‘Acoustic II’ tour, which stopped at iconic venues including Royal Albert Hall in London and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. 

“This is a track that we originally wrote with Justine some years ago. Like many musicians during lockdown, we buried ourselves in the studio and had plenty of time to pick through old ideas. ‘Almost Home’, with its ’80s production influences, caught our ear. We sent it across to Justine again, and she rewrote the second verse to reflect her feelings on it today - we won’t tell you what it’s about though, we’ll leave that for you to decide. This track started in quite a different form, so we’ve also done a Club Mix to bring it a bit more up-to-date. On 10 December, Anjunabeats label mainstay ilan Bluestone releases his energetic trance rework of ‘Sun & Moon’. Ilan’s remix first premiered during the trance trio’s headlining set at their sold out Group Therapy 450 show at Drumsheds, London this past September.

At the forefront of progressive and trance for almost a decade, London-based ilan Bluestone made his debut on Anjunabeats in 2012. Producing high-energy trance with heart and soul, his emotional, song-drive approach to dance music has earned him eleven genre chart number 1’s on Beatport and a legion of fans around the world.

The ilan Bluestone remix of Sun & Moon features on the ‘10 Years of Group Therapy’ album, a cross-genre remix compilation set to release on 17 December. The reunion of Seven Lions, Above & Beyond, and Opposite The Other arrives with ‘Over Now,’ out now on Anjunabeats and Ophelia Records. 

‘Over Now’ is the follow-up to Above & Beyond, Seven Lions and Opposite The Other’s collaborative debut ‘See The End’ (2019). It’s since become a staple in Above & Beyond’s live sets at clubs and festivals worldwide. This summer, Seven Lions joined Above & Beyond on stage to perform ‘Over Now’ at the trio’s biggest celebration of 2023, the Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge, as seen in the official music video.

Melodic dubstep pioneer Seven Lions rapidly rose to prominence after winning a remix competition in 2011. His unique rework of Above & Beyond’s ‘You Got To Go’ (feat. Zoë Johnston) immediately grabbed the trio’s attention, sparking the beginning of a relationship that would span multiple collaborative performances between the two acts and an array of further Seven Lions remixes of Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats classics. 

A vocal fan of Above & Beyond’s early works, Jeff’s (Seven Lions) own inimitable brand of high-octane, bass-saturated dance has always kept songwriting at its core. Some of his most recognizable Anjunabeats releases include his heavy-hitting remix 3LAU’s debut Anjunabeats smash, ‘Tokyo’ feat. XIRA, his unforgettable collaboration with Jason Ross and Paul Meany, ‘Higher Love’, and more.

Seven Lions kicked off this year with his seismic ‘Journey III’ album tour, with stops at Los Angeles State Historic Park, three shows at Avant Gardner (Brooklyn Mirage), Downtown Las Vegas Event Center, San Diego’s Rady Shell, and beyond, selling over 125K tickets in total.

Songwriter and vocalist Sam Burger releases music under the moniker 'Opposite The Other'. Opposite The Other has supported globally renowned acts like The Cure, Bastille, The Lumineers, and more, and teamed up with Seven Lions earlier this year on ‘Alive’. 

Reflecting on ‘Over Now’, Sam explains: 

"The initial lyrical idea for the song actually came to me near the end of the pandemic. Like many others, I was in a dark place for so many reasons. The truth hit me that no matter how good or bad a situation is, there will always be an ending. This song is about the hope that the light at the end of the tunnel will arrive sooner rather than later. Working with Above & Beyond and Seven Lions once again has been the biggest joy, and I'm super excited to see how this song resonates with people".

OceanLab’s ‘Satellite’ was released in 2004 to wide acclaim, peaking at number 19 in the UK singles chart in May 2004 and remaining there for a month. The track would go on to become a cult classic, sung along to by fans at countless Above & Beyond shows.

Almost twenty years on from its original release, Above & Beyond now release their 2023 Progressive Mix of ‘Satellite’, which they debuted to 22,000 fans at their Group Therapy 500 celebrations at Banc of California Stadium last year.

‘Satellite’ (Above & Beyond's 2023 Progressive Mix) is the first single from the forthcoming ‘OceanLab: The Anthology’ project, which celebrates the legacy of the iconic trance group through a series of new remixes, a digital compilation, and a limited edition vinyl box set product.

This year, Above & Beyond were the only British DJs to sell out two consecutive nights at Printworks as part of the iconic London venue’s closing season. Over the summer, their Group Therapy Weekender festival once again saw thousands of Anjunafamily descend on the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington State. They also made appearances at Tomorrowland in Belgium and Insomniac's Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. They recently made a return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre to helm two shows alongside label stars from Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Above & Beyond's next live celebrations will take place at Dreamstate festivals in California and Sydney, followed by shows at The GelreDome in The Netherlands and The Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco. Tickets on sale now (www.aboveandbeyond.nu/tour).

OceanLab released their romantic vocal trance single ‘Beautiful Together’ in 2003. Featuring the ethereal vocals of Justine Suissa atop Above & Beyond’s balearic-tinged soundscapes, it would go on to burn the hearts of millions of OceanLab fans in the years to come. Now, techno powerhouse and Anjunabeats stalwart Damion 'Damo' Houchen, a.k.a. Genix, delivers his take on the OceanLab classic.

The past two years have seen Genix release his debut album '199X', close Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender at The Gorge Amphitheatre, launch his club-oriented ‘Warehouse55’ EP series and event brand, and sell out two headline Warehouse 55 events in London and Los Angeles. Melodic dubstep pioneer Seven Lions rapidly rose to prominence after winning an Above & Beyond remix competition in 2011. His unique rework of Above & Beyond’s ‘You Got To Go’ (feat. Zoë Johnston) immediately grabbed the trio’s attention, sparking the beginning of a relationship that would span multiple collaborative performances between the two acts and an array of further Seven Lions remixes of Above & Beyond and Anjunabeats classics.

A vocal fan of Above & Beyond’s early works, Jeff’s (Seven Lions) own inimitable brand of high-octane, bass-saturated dance has always kept songwriting at its core. Some of his most recognizable Anjunabeats releases include his heavy-hitting remix 3LAU’s debut Anjunabeats smash, ‘Tokyo’ feat. The latest offering from GRAMMY-nominated artists Above & Beyond and Zoë Johnston is an uplifting and ethereal trance record, first debuted to 20,000 fans at the trio’s Group Therapy 500 celebration in Los Angeles in 2022. GRAMMY-nominated electronic trio Above & Beyond release a long-awaited remix of ‘Sun In Your Eyes’, from California’s Spencer Brown.

Spencer first appeared on Anjunabeats with ‘Wannamaker’ in 2016. His productions blur the lines between deep house, progressive and trance, earning a place in the record bags of top flight artists Above & Beyond, deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Sasha.

‘Sun In Your Eyes’ was originally released on Above & Beyond’s 2011 album ‘Group Therapy’, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. One of Above & Beyond’s most popular instrumental pieces, ‘Sun In Your Eyes’ has had a new lease on life, with Jamie XX and Grimes recently supporting the track. It was remastered for Above & Beyond’s 2019 ambient album ‘Flow State’, which has generated over 135 million streams to date. Spencer’s remix has been a secret weapon in his live shows for years, and is the first remix of the track to be officially released as a single.

Spencer’s second mix album, ‘Stream of Consciousness’, was released on Anjunabeats in January 2020. Last year also saw Spencer team up with ALPHA 9 on ‘Ariel / Afterlife’ and with Anjunadeep’s Ben Böhmer on the ‘Phases EP’.
