This Sunday, Executive Council of Australian Jewry - ECAJ Co-CEO Alex Ryvchin had the honour of delivering the keynote address at Holocaust Remembrance (Yom HaShoah) events in Brisbane and Gold Coast to audiences including Members of Parliament, community leaders and most importantly, Holocaust survivors.
“Dynasties and entire families, great sages and common workers, Nobel laureates and humble students, babies, pensioners, whole villages and communities, had all disappeared. Thriving Jewish intellectual and cultural centers like Krakow and Vilnius that had bustled with Jewish life - seminary students, merchants, families, all manner of artisans, were now reduced to rude husks, urban memorials of human depravity.” – a snippet from Alex’s speech.
The Executive Council of Australian Jewry - ECAJ condemns the actions of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terrorist groups in Gaza which over the last two days have fired more than 450 rockets, mortars and other explosive projectiles targeted at civilian population centres in southern Israel, including the cities of Ashkelon, Ashdod and Beer Sheva.
