DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yeah, has long been the way on the forum. Even the gossip thread seems to be struggling at the moment as there isn't much being said by the CM team*... * Yeah, that was a hint.
  2. Forgive the double post, but full entry list for rounds two and three of the British Rallycross Championship confirms that Liam Doran will race on Saturday (Round 2) and Andreas Bakkerud on Sunday (Round 3). Enzo Ide will race a second Audi on both days. https://www.rallycrossbrx.com/assets/img/uploads/5-Nations-Entry-list.pdf The usual BRX problem with entries spread across a multitude of classes but, in the current climate, 70+ cars seems pretty good. Disappointing numbers in Super National, but at least the cars that are entered should all be competitive. Interesting to see Volland bringing two cars over as well, I expect they are going to annihilate the other 2WD cars!
  3. It seems the issue with Bennett was with the sponsors. An agreement was made with the organisers before the event, but it seems not all parties were told. The problem came to light just before the semis, the result of which was that Bennett couldn't carry on. It seems that everything has been clarified before the event now. Not sure if a dispensation has been made, or the World cars entered have been mapped to use the Championship control fuel. RX Cartel won't be in Meganes: looks like JC will be there with cars, Enzo Ide is driving as well.
  4. RX Cartel are posting (on Instagram) that Liam and Andreas will be racing at Lydden this weekend in Audi's. I am not convinced that it isn't a wind up, but be incredible if true.

DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series - 2020 Season

Yeah, I have participated in all of the recent events purely to race against friends, I agree that the "open" nature of the event means that some players are obviously just plugging away at the weekly stage to put the best time in. NB: That reminds me, need to check and see where I came now the last round has finished!
  6. It isn't as good as the drivers title, but I am glad that Ekstrom earned something out of this season. Larsson was far more consistent than I was expecting.
  7. GRX changed suspension suppliers this year (to BOS). I don't think they have been as quick getting up to speed as they hoped. Niclas looked like he was really struggling at times during the first RallyX Nordic outing for the BOS car and, although they gained time, I didn't think the car looked anywhere near as far as last year. You can get all the lap times for each race weekend going back quite a few years, but I don't think any comparison is valid to this season. Pretty much every round has taken place at a different time and, perhaps more crucially, in differing conditions to last year. Any comparison is irrelevant (in my personal opinion anyway). I am not sure if the rest of the field have actually made significant gains, or if it is that some drivers are in cars they prefer and/or some cars are now with more appropriate drivers (specifically thinking the EKS Audis). I personally believe that, with the progression made last year, Johan is on the back foot this year (though I am sure many will disagree with that opinion). For me that is what makes his win this year even more impressive: if it hadn't been for Ekstrom I think Johan would have absolutely walked it (as an aside I also think that Mattias has been an absolutely class act this year).
  8. I am possibly biased, but I hope the performance from Johan this year silences the critics who think the win was more from the car than him. Absolutely. I was gutted for Baumanis when it was revealed he didn't have the budget for his 2020 campaign, but as it turns out that might have saved the Championship this year. The fight(s) between Johan and Mattias have been the highlight of this season for me. Another disappointing year for Niclas. Last year he lost the title due his medical issues and this year he just didn't look as consistently competitive.
  9. I didn't care about the conditions: I am just desperate to see more racing! I also wanted to see how Johan fared at Spa (not knowing the track) and how quickly he got his head around Germany. Hopefully we'll get to see that next year. Speaking of Johan - and people may disagree - but, despite the loss of rounds, I think the right driver has won WRX this year. Barratt wins because she turned up at every weekend... I understand that the ball is only just starting to roll this year, but declaring her a winner in that series seems a bit of a joke. British RX is still on track for a double-header weekend at the start of December: but sadly without spectators.
  10. Would like to see it confirmed from a more credible source... https://dirtfish.com/rallycross/world-rx/world-rxs-nurburgring-finale-canceled ...but it looks like that is it for the 2020 WRX season.
  11. Yeah, that is what I was thinking after posting @Janneman60... ...they have done it at other rounds, but are they going to be working with limited daylight hours that late in the year?
  12. Fully agree. I absolutely love the current crop of cars, but having the old cars in there would make for a complete game.
  13. Forgive the double post, but I have just seen that the official World RX social media pages are stating that Germany will be the final round of the Euro RX, Super 1600 and Formula E Championships. With that in mind, would there be enough hours in the day to potentially fit in two World RX rounds?
  14. Saying "postponed" there, but suggesting it is cancelled elsewhere: https://www.motorsport.com/world-rx/news/spa-world-rx-round-postponed-until-2021/4903620/?ic_source=home-page-widget&ic_medium=widget&ic_campaign=widget-1 That article still says that Germany is planned, but Johan would need to score just three points to win.
  15. Just seen that the British Rallycross rounds at Lydden this weekend (rounds two and three) have been postponed due to a fresh lockdown here in the UK. Absolutely gutted and very frustrated with the lockdown implementation, as it should have come six weeks ago. Fingers crossed they can run a round (or two) in December.
