+Rylee Matthew i agree, i know that you tear up to get stuff out of your eye, but i have no idea why we cry when we are sad. (or very very happy)

How do we know that petroleum comes from ancient plants, and how did it get so deep in the first place? Sometimes it's 10 kilometers deep!

I'm sure 90% percent of responses to the following question will be something along the lines of "because americans are stupid" but I've got to ask. Why is thinking about a measurement in a unit different than what we grew up with so difficult to get used to? Sure a kilometer is about 5/8 of a mile and it's easy to imagine 5/8 of a mile. But why do we have to mentally make the conversion for so long before a kilometer becomes natural? I think it's similar to learning a new language as an adult, at some point you can think in the second language rather than think in the first and translate to the second. But again, why is this so difficult and what is the science behind it?

SciShow, can you guys watch some of Primitive Technology's videos, and maybe ask to do a video commenting on his ancient construction techniques, and the science and engineering our ancestors used to build homes? Primitive Technology is here; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAL3JXZSzSm8AlZyD3nQdBA

Guys, I don't know if you have a video about this. Not long time ago i was surprised to know that my cousin used the word billion to refer to a thousand million. I was raised in Colombia and i was taught that a billion is a million million. 10 raised to the power of 12 instead of 9. I was reading that even the British considered it a million million not long time ago. I want to know what's the one internationally accepted in the scientific community.

Question about something that has maby nothing to do with science/.... but I do not know where else I can ask it. Hello I’ve been wondering and thinking about something for a few weeks. But I’m not sure if this idea is just an illusion(from the media/news) or maybe something else. Small country’s like the Netherlands where I live have achieved so many great things/results. For example last week Max Verstappen broke a world record for being the youngest F1 winner. But in big country’s there are much more people, so the chance of being the #1 team/… would be higher I guess. But is this true??? I mean I hear so many things about what we (Dutch people) do worldwide, but for example I do not here that much from Denmark/… (this sounds logic because only really important/big news would reach the netherlands) Or Spain, they are with many more people in their country, how is it possible that we (such a small country) can compete against these big countries. ( the chance that you have more successful people in a country would be related to the total number of inhabitants??) What are the factors that are important to be successfully or become ‘’famous’’/ well know/ the #1 team. Maybe all the media story’s I hear are there because we are with only a few in the Netherlands, so when we achieve something it will always be for the first time in the Netherlands. ( I mean for example Max, he was also the first dutch F1 racer who drove 1st position ) If for example in America there would be someone trying to set a record. It is much more likely that there was already some American who did this before. So you won’t hear much about it in the news. Maybe someone knows it.... Thanks Ps sorry for my bad English .

Video suggestion: How does ginger work in treating nausea and other stomach ailments? It's suggested as a remedy for many things, and from what I've heard, is actually very effective. What is it about ginger that makes it so great(in this area of interest)?

Dear Hank, Love your channel and find the vast majority of your videos to be superb. The only exceptions are the videos where you seem to fall into intentional obfuscation of scientific studies by commercial interests. In one video you state the obesity epidemic is somehow mysterious. Your reasoning seems to be the body of studies that obscure the links between any specific group of foods to obesity. Refined carbohydrates, and hydrogenated fats are obvious suspects in this epidemic. Both of these additives are ubiquitous in our grocery stores. I don't believe studies exonerating these of any link to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Please don't consider a study to be valid simply because its published in a respected peer reviewed journal. Always consider the funding source of a "scientific" study. If there are a number of contradictory studies on any subject, side with those that are funded by sources that won't profit or be harmed by the results. The obesity epidemic isn't mysterious. If you believe it is, then you are disappointingly naive. Do you believe a Monsanto funded study exonerating glyphosate or GMOs of any negative effects can ever be trusted? Do you know how easy it would be to exclude data linking GMOs to increased potential of allergic reaction or to purposely exclude any links of IBD to glyphosate? More research please,
