Our roads often flood when there is rain! Turn around, don't drown. Driving through standing or running water is very dangerous and you likely do not have cell phone service to call for help if something happens. Photo taken after last week's rain

All dirt roads are now open. Thank you to our roads crew for working so hard to repair the roads from the heavy rains last week. Though all roads are now open, remember that some require high clearance and 4WD.

Rescuers are now concentrating on more remote sections of the greater Fortynine Palms Oasis area. Due to steep ravines & cliffs, technical specialists with high-angle rescue skills are being used to complete grid searches in the northern section of the 794,000-acre park.

For our 82nd birthday consider making a personal pledge to either reduce your balloon use and/or always deflate balloons after using them and dispose of them properly.

All we ask for our birthday is responsible balloon use. Every year hundreds and hundreds of balloons blow into Joshua Tree creating liter, an eyesore, and even harm our wildlife :(
