Neil Gaiman's Stardust to be adapted for BBC Radio

One of Neil Gaiman’s most beloved stories, Stardust, will make its radio debut this December, following the model of the earlier BBC Radio adaptions of Neverwhere and Good Omens.

Dirk Maggs — who co-directed the Neverwhere and Good Omens adaptations — is set to direct the Stardust radio play, which will feature Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game) as Tristran alongside Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders) as the falling star, Yvaine.

The audio play for Stardust will be just one of the many forms the story has appeared in over the years, joining the earlier novel, illustrated book, and movie (which starred Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, and Henry Cavill) versions of the story.

It’s shaping up to be a busy next few months for Gaiman fans. Along with Stardust, a radio version of the Neverwhere short story spinoff How the Marquis Got His Coat Back is also scheduled for later this year. Starz’s television take on American Gods is set to release in 2017, as well as a planned six-part TV series of Good Omens, the novel he co-wrote with late fantasy author and longtime friend Terry Prachett.
