If we don't challenge our representatives to end abortion, who will?
Jesus died so that heterosexual and homosexual sinners might be saved. Jesus created sexuality, and has a clear will for how it is to be experienced in holiness and joy.
His will is that a man might leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and that the two become one flesh (Mark 10:6-9). In this union, sexuality finds its God-appointed meaning, whether in personal-physical unification, symbolic representation, sensual jubilation, or fruitful procreation.
For those who have forsaken God's path of sexual fulfillment, and walked into homosexual intercourse or heterosexual extramarital fornication or adultery, Jesus offers astonishing mercy.
Such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11)
But today this salvation from sinful sexual acts was not embraced. Instead there was massive institutionalization of sin.

The headline reporting on a Gallup poll is accurate as far as it goes but incomplete- "U.S. Support for Euthanasia Hinges on How It's Described: Support is at low ebb on the basis of wording that mentions 'suicide.'"
Let's talk about what the headline highlights. The Gallup graphic is reproduced below and it includes the wording. According to Lydia Saad:
PRINCETON, NJ -- In the same month that Vermont became the fourth state to legalize physician-assisted suicide, a May 2-7 Gallup survey finds 70% of Americans in favor of allowing doctors to hasten a terminally ill patient's death when the matter is described as allowing doctors to "end the patient's life by some painless means." At the same time, far fewer -- 51% -- support it when the process is described as doctors helping a patient "commit suicide."

Gallup May 2-7, 2013
To her credit, Saad spells out the key differences between the wording in the two questions:
Gallup's question with the softer description of euthanasia -- calling it "ending a patient's life by some painless means" -- also specifies that both the patient and his or her family requested it. The "suicide" version says the patient requests assistance from a doctor, without referencing other family members.Either way, the question is wrapped in a cocoon of compassion that softens naturally resistance. But there's much more....

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 26, 2015/Christian Newswire --
Ohio recently made headlines with reports that half the abortion clinics in that state have closed and several others have curtailed services, reducing abortion numbers to the lowest since 1976.
"When abortion clinics close, abortions decline and lives are saved. It's as simple as that," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and co-author with Cheryl Sullenger of the book Abortion Free. "We have worked in Ohio on a number of projects in cooperation with local leaders that, in part, contributed to this decline, but more must be done."
Newman notes that there is great cause for concern regarding hazardous conditions and practices at the Ohio abortion clinics that are still open.
Operation Rescue has released a new special investigative report detailing deteriorating conditions and horrific injuries at Ohio's eight remaining abortion facilities.
The report is based on secret records from the Ohio Department of Health that have never before been made public, that show that at least 47 abortion-related medical emergencies or complications took place at the eight abortion clinics since 2011, including the abortion-related death of a 22-year old African-American woman named Lakisha Wilson.
The documents also detail an alarming laundry list of life-threatening safety hazards at those same abortion facilities.
"Abortion complications and horrendous conditions as detailed in these documents are not confined to Ohio abortion clinics. We see these kinds of things in every state," said Newman. "Ohio is just a microcosm of the dangers that exist at abortion clinics throughout the nation."
Other Ohio Department of Health records show that abortion facilities have singled out poor urban women from the African-American community as targets for aggressive abortion marketing and that African-American women are the ones who are most impacted by the abortion cartel's substandard conditions and practices.
"Operation Rescue calls on the Ohio Department of Health to stop turning a blind eye to dangerous conditions and practitioners, stop issuing variances to those who cannot qualify for hospital transfer agreements, and shut down as many abortion facilities as necessary to protect the lives and health of Ohio women, starting with the Preterm clinic in Cleveland," said Newman.
ALBANY, N.Y., May 21, 2015 /Christian Newswire --
A powerful new ad campaign, addressing the heart and soul issue of abortion, has launched in New York's capital city of Albany. Bus shelter posters and a grassroots ground campaign will share the "ABORTION IS NOT A HEALTH ISSUE. IT'S A HEART AND SOUL ISSUE." messaging throughout the summer. The Radiance Foundation, in collaboration with an alliance of community-based organizations in the Albany area, has created the YourHeartAndSoul.org initiative to help prevent abortion and reach out to those who are post-abortive.
"The violence of abortion touches people emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually," says Radiance Foundation co-founder Bethany Bomberger, a mother of both adopted and biological children. "So many women feel all alone and are often never told of the life-affirming options that value them and their child. This campaign lets them know that there is help. And for those who've made the irreversible decision of abortion, there is hope."
New York is the home of Planned Parenthood, the nation's leading abortion chain responsible for over 327,000 abortions every year nationwide. There were 94,326 abortions reported in NY in 2013, with the majority of abortions among women ages 20-24. There are 225 abortion facilities in NY, but these are not places where mother and child are valued and protected. YourHeartAndSoul.org highlights local pregnancy care centers, churches, and other community-based organizations that have committed themselves to caring for those considering abortion or the aftermath of such a decision.
"Men regret abortion, too. There are three precious lives involved here: the mother, the father and the child," says Ryan Bomberger, Chief Creative Officer of The Radiance Foundation. "Some of my colleagues are post-abortive, and their stories of transformation are incredibly powerful. We created this campaign to reach out with love and help people connect with the ultimate source of Hope and Healing - Jesus Christ."
This campaign was made possible by prolife advocates in the Albany area who want to promote a culture of life that values every human life, born and unborn.

Alliance Defending Freedom and other pro-life organizations released a joint statement Monday as a District of Columbia law is set to go into effect that could force such groups to operate contrary to their missions and beliefs.
Partly due to the agreement of many people, including the former D.C. mayor, that the law raises serious concerns under the First Amendment and federal law, the D.C. Council retreated from its original purpose for the law and passed a temporary measure stating that it will not require any employer in the District to provide insurance coverage for abortion, contraceptives, or any other "reproductive health decision." The temporary measure will expire in 225 days, however, and therefore leaves pro-life employers open to unconstitutional treatment by the government.
"Pro-life organizations in our nation's capital should not be forced to pay for abortions or hire those who oppose their pro-life beliefs," said ADF Senior Counsel Casey Mattox. "While the D.C. Council has retreated from this law's original goal, which was to force pro-life organizations to pay for abortions in violation of their conscience, RHNDA remains an unnecessary and illegal attack on pro-life conscience that Congress must stop and that we will fight, if necessary, in the courts."
In addition to ADF, the signers of the joint statement include representatives from the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, Americans United for Life, Americans United for Life Action, March for Life, Concerned Women for America, Susan B. Anthony List, Family Research Council, and the Association of Christian Schools International.
The Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act of 2014 still prohibits even pro-life and religious organizations from "discriminating" against employees and potential employees for any "reproductive health" decision, including elective abortions. If the District does not make its temporary amendment to the law permanent, it could also force employers to provide health insurance for elective abortions regardless of the organization's religious beliefs or pro-life mission....

ADF International filed a brief with the European Court of Human Rights Thursday that makes legal arguments in defense of unborn children. The court granted ADF International permission to intervene in the case of Lia Shioshvili, a Georgian national who gave birth to a stillborn child after Russian authorities mistreated her....
Shioshvili moved to Russia with her four children in April 2003. In November 2006, when she was eight months pregnant with her fifth child, Russian authorities decided to expel her from the country.
Over a period of several weeks, Shioshvili attempted to travel back to Georgia with her children. She experienced numerous problems at the hands of migration officers, who left her in the cold for prolonged periods of time, failed to offer her food and water, and refused to let her take a seat as she waited for hours to have her documents checked. As a result, Shioshvili's health worsened. She suffered cold, fever, depression, and repeated asthma attacks. Days later she experienced severe abdominal pain and gave birth to a stillborn child.
In its brief in Shioshvili v. Russia, ADF International submitted that protections afforded to the unborn child both at the national level in member states and in international treaties demonstrates that the ECHR should recognize and protect unborn human life....

WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-21-15)/AUL --
Care Net and Americans United for Life joined the Colorado State Legislature today in praising the work of pregnancy care centers in a special resolution recognizing the work of volunteers across the state.
Pro-life advocates and legislators honored the service and loving support of volunteers who daily care for mothers, fathers, and their children, born and unborn, assisting them at a pivotal moment. Senators Kevin Lundberg and Larry Crowder sponsored the resolution with the support of the CFA Foundation and Colorado Family Action.
The resolution recognizes the "life-affirming impact of pregnancy resource centers on the women, children, and men and communities they serve" and the "integrity and compassion" with which they provide those services.
"Pregnancy centers are often the only place in a community that women and men can count on for comprehensive support when faced with a pregnancy decision," said Roland C. Warren, president and CEO of Care Net. "Pregnancy centers don't just help women and men choose life, but also give them the material, emotional, and spiritual support they need to give abundant life to their children and families. Therefore, we wholeheartedly join the Colorado State Legislature in praising the courageous work of pregnancy centers in Colorado and across the country."
"Building a culture of life takes place on many fronts, as caring people show that working for a day in which everyone is welcomed in life and protected in law begins with helping mothers during their pregnancies," said AUL's General Counsel Ovide Lamontagne who was present in Colorado at today's passage of the resolution. "Pregnancy Care Centers are a powerful force within the pro-life community, providing love and support for women and their families."
The resolution is based on the "Joint Resolution Honoring Pregnancy Centers," available in AUL's 2015 Model Legislation & Policy Guides. Dozens of states have passed similar resolutions in recent years praising the work of pregnancy centers, which are also known as crisis pregnancy centers and pregnancy resource centers.
Pregnancy Centers are local, nonprofit organizations that provide compassionate support to women and men faced with difficult pregnancy decisions. Services provided by centers may include pregnancy decision coaching by trained advocates, free pregnancy tests, information about pregnancy options, material resources, and post-decision support (including parenting education and abortion recovery groups).
Founded in 1975, Care Net supports one of the largest networks of pregnancy centers in North America and runs the nation's only real-time call center providing pregnancy decision coaching. Acknowledging that every human life begins at conception and is worthy of protection, Care Net offers compassion, hope, and help to anyone considering abortion by presenting them with realistic alternatives and Christ-centered support through its life-affirming network of pregnancy centers, organizations, and individuals. Pro-life pregnancy centers provide compassionate medical care, material assistance, and emotional support to women experiencing unplanned pregnancies. But the abortion lobby continually paints this movement as deceitful, uncaring, religious fanatics.
Cosmopolitan recently published an article chronicling Heartbeat International's 2014 annual conference. Heartbeat International is an organization of affiliated pregnancy help providers, such as pregnancy centers, maternity homes, and adoption services. Pregnancy centers, such as those affiliated with Heartbeat, provide vital services to hurting women experiencing unplanned pregnancies.
Such services range from material non-medical assistance offered in pregnancy resource centers--such as parenting classes, material assistance, discussion of pregnancy options, adoption assistance, and the like--to medical services--such as sonograms, pregnancy testing, STI testing and treatment, and prenatal care--in medical pregnancy centers. Heartbeat president Peggy Hartshorn, quoted in the article, perfectly captures the mission of the pregnancy center movement: "The sole purpose of every pregnancy help organization is to provide the love and support every woman deserves in an unexpected pregnancy."
Unfortunately, virtually all of this information is missing from Ms. Winter's article. The article instead focuses on radical accusations of the abortion lobby and demeaning the Christian beliefs of the pro-life movement. The true mission of the pregnancy center movement is to serve hurting women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, whether they decide to carry that pregnancy to term or to terminate. Pregnancy centers serve women, not with coercion or deception, but with love. Sadly, Cosmopolitan entirely misses the point....

Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Casey Mattox will be available for media interviews immediately following his oral argument Thursday before the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont in a legal challenge to an Obamacare surcharge that forces people to pay for elective abortion coverage.
ADF attorneys filed the lawsuit against the Obama administration and state exchange officers in January after a pro-life Vermont man, Lyle Howe, Jr., lost his private health plan due to Obamacare and was forced on to the state exchange. Under Obamacare, every health insurance exchange plan in Vermont requires individuals to directly pay a "separate payment" to cover elective abortions.
"Americans should have access to health care without being secretly coerced into paying for elective abortions and violating their deepest convictions," said Mattox. "The Constitution, the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and state law prohibit this type of government coercion. We hope the court will stop the federal and state governments from needlessly trampling on First Amendment freedoms."
The lawsuit, Howe v. Burwell, also challenges secrecy clauses within Obamacare which forbid Americans from being told prior to enrollment whether the plans they would purchase on an exchange will include abortion coverage and a hidden separate payment for abortions. The clauses also forbid Americans from being told how much of the premium is a federally mandated abortion surcharge that pays exclusively for other people's elective abortions....

TOPEKA, Kan., April 7, 2015 /Christian Newswire --
This morning, Gov. Sam Brownback signed into law the historic "Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act," SB 95. It will go into effect July 1.
Gov. Brownback commented, "This is a horrific procedure and we are pleased to ban it in Kansas and we hope it will be banned nationally."
To commemorate this ground-breaking and first-in-the-nation measure, Gov. Brownback will travel across Kansas for ceremonial signings of the bill on April 28. (Locations will be announced in the near future.)
The Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act generated immediate grassroots support after introduction in January by lead sponsor, Sen. Garrett Love (R-Montezuma), who remarked, "In visiting with my constituents, many have been stunned that this practice (dismemberment) is going on in Kansas and have demanded that it be stopped."
Records released on April 1 by the Kansas Health & Environment Dept. show that in 2014 this D&E method was used in 637 abortions, or 8.8% of the total 7,263 Kansas abortions reported.
SB 95 bans a particularly gruesome abortion method in which a living unborn child in her mother's womb is ripped apart into pieces by an abortionist using sharp metal tools.
Abortionist LeRoy Carhart testified under oath that the unborn child is alive because he is watching him/her on ultrasound during the procedure.
In the words of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, the unborn child in a D&E/ Dismemberment abortion, "dies just as a human adult or child would: It bleeds to death as it is torn limb from limb."
Testimony provided by Kansans for Life emphasized that the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a ban on the partial-birth method of abortion in 2007 after two cases, Stenberg v Carhart and Gonzales v Carhart.
In both cases, the Court closely examined both the partial-birth and D&E/ Dismemberment abortion methods and found them to be "brutal." The Court noted:
"[it's] necessary at the outset to set forth what may happen during an abortion." ... and, "States also have an interest in forbidding medical procedures which, in the State's reasonable determination, might cause the medical profession or society as a whole to become insensitive, even disdainful, to life, including life in the human fetus." Stenberg, 958 & 961
On March 25, the House overwhelmingly passed SB 95 by 98-26 after the Senate had easily passed the measure, 31-9, on Feb 20. (See kansansforlife.wordpress.com for more information.)
"Judge William Conley's decision Friday, overturning Wisconsin's law requiring admitting privileges for abortionists at local hospitals, is detrimental to providing continuity of care for women who suffer complications from an abortion," shared Heather Weininger, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "Wisconsin Right to Life is disappointed that women will not receive the care they need under these frightening circumstances."
Enacted in June of 2013, Act 37 requires that abortionists have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the abortion clinic. In July of 2013, the admitting privileges provision was challenged in Federal Court by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Affiliated Medical Services, and the ACLU of Wisconsin. During the past year, abortionists at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin were able to obtain admitting privileges in Appleton, Madison, and Milwaukee. Other abortionists are still attempting to acquire them - they have been denied partly because of lack of peer review of their abortion practice.
"The fact that some abortionists are not reviewed adequately is exactly why the legislature correctly voted to require admitting privileges at a hospital to provide the highest quality care for women," continued Weininger.
"It is our hope that the Attorney General will appeal Judge Conley's ruling," continued Weininger. "We must do all we can to ensure safety and continuity of care for Wisconsin women."
