2016-17 Peirce Society Essay Contest
Results
The winner of this year's Essay Contest is Benoit Gaultier (Collège de France), for his paper "The Iconicity of Thought and its Moving Pictures: Following the Sinuosities of Peirce’s Path."
Honorable mentions: Jimmy Aames (IU Blioomington), "On the Double Function of the Interpretant," and Kenneth Boyd (Toronto), "Peirce, Ladd-Franklin, and the Development of the Proposition."
Dr. Gaultier will present his paper as part of the Peirce Society program at the 2017 APA Eastern Division meeting in Baltimore on Friday, January 6, 2017.

The Society maintains a calendar of meetings, conferences, workshops and other events pertaining to pragmatism and American philosophy.
History
The Charles S. Peirce Society was founded in 1946 by Frederic H. Young. The first President of the Society, elected in 1946, was Paul Weiss. Other early presidents include Carolyn Eisele, Charles Hartshorne, James K. Feibleman, Max Fisch, Thomas Goudge, Isabel Stearns, and Philip Wiener.

The story of the founding of the Society
Annual Meeting
Beginning in 2013, the Society will meet annually in conjunction with the meeting of the American Philosophical Association. The location of the meeting changes from year to year.
The Society will hold its annual general meeting and two scholarly sessions at the 2017 Eastern Division meeting of the American Philosophical Association, which occurs Jan. 4-7 in Baltimore, MD. See www.apaonline.org/event/2017eastern for registration, programme, and accommodations details.

Essay Contest
The Society sponsors an annual essay contest. Graduate students and recent Ph.D. degree holders are invited to submit high-quality research papers on any aspect of Charles S. Peirce's work. The essay contest winner receives a monetary prize, is invited to present the essay at the annual meeting of the Society, and is allowed to submit it for publication in the Society's journal.
