Lockheed Martin received a direct commercial sale contract from the Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) to provide Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) for its F-16 fleet, becoming the 25th international customer for the program.

Gust of wind flips USAF Thunderbirds F-16D In Dayton, Ohio
A USAF Thunderbirds F-16 has been involved with a mishap while on location in Dayton, Ohio. The aircraft involved was supposedly one of the team's Block 52 F-16Ds which are used for media flights, camera ships, and as spares/stand-ins for the team's six-ship demonstration.

Pilot ejects from burning F-16C at Houston Airport
A Oklahoma Air National Guard F-16 caught fire and crashed during takeoff from Ellington Airport in Houston. The pilot safely ejected and was taken to the hospital.

The F-16 VISTA (Variable stability In-flight Simulator Test Aircraft) was designed to demonstrate the tactical utility of thrust vectoring in close-in air combat and the use of integrated control of thrust vectoring in flight. The aircraft has demonstrated a steady angle of attack of as much as 86 degrees and a transient angle of attack of up to 180 degrees. In other words, the aircraft can fly backwards for a brief time. The VISTA was later re-designated as the NF-16D, transferred to NASA and was used in the MATV and AVEN test programs.
