TMZ reports that Kardashian, 31, explained to Odom, 36, that she wants to start a family, but can’t begin looking for a new husband (and potential father to her future kids) until their split is finalized. Odom understood and was on board with the decision.
Sources told People that Odom’s recovery from his overdose in October 2015 was the only reason Kardashian waited to move the divorce forward. “This was always the plan. The divorce has never been officially off,” an insider said. “Khloé was waiting for the timing to be right.”
Still, she won’t cut herself off from Odom completely. While sources confirm there hasn’t been a romantic relationship between the pair since she first filed for divorce in December 2013, they’ll always be close — and that she’ll continue to support the former NBA star financially. “She’s there for him and they’re in regular contact and she wishes him well,” a source told People. “She’ll always be there for him. But as far as their marriage is concerned, that’s over and has been for quite some time. It was time to make it official.”
