- Identify Hate Groups on GuideStar (2017) Does what it says on the tin. GuideStar, a website that makes it easier to find reputable charities, added 'hate group' classifications to its site, using data from the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC does lots of other great stuff, like writing writing guides about everyday bigotry. Conservatives protested this addition, claiming that opposing same-sex relationships wasn't a form of hate. And, unfortunately, they succeeded in pressuring GuideStar to remove the classifications, for now. Until GuideStar is able to add the classifications back, this is a Chrome extension that does just that: it flags hate groups on the site, so you don't accidentally donate to them. It's an open source project, and positive contributions and encouraged.
