Malware is not limited to viruses or programs that are “injected” into
a machine; the programs installed by the manufacturer are often
malware themselves. Many well-known proprietary programs are designed
as malware. See https://gnu.org/proprietary/ for many examples.
Every nonfree program provides ZERO security against its develpoer.
So you can’t trust the designer of the car’s software not to use
it against you—unless it’s free software (controlled by the users).
See https://gnu.org/philosophy/free-software-even-more-important.html.
The manufacturer is unlikely to use your car as a missile.
But it might, when asked, tell the car to bring you to a CIA
black site where you will be tortured.
