FAQ:

Can individuals from my organization access Inbox?

After you enable Inbox from the admin console, anyone from your organization who installs and uses the mobile app can access Inbox.

How does Inbox work with Gmail?

The Gmail team built Inbox to give you a new way to stay organized. Gmail and Inbox stay in sync so what you do in one app carries over to the other, including drafts of messages and your contacts. If you snooze a message from Inbox, it will snooze in Gmail and return to both places at the same time. However, some features like pins and reminders are only a part of Inbox and won’t be seen in Gmail.

Can users go back to their existing Gmail?

Yes. After they sign up for Inbox by Gmail, your users will have access to both, and they can use either Inbox by Gmail or Gmail based on their preference. They do not have to choose one or the other.

After I enable Inbox by Gmail for my organization can I disable it?

No, after you enable Inbox, it will remain available for any users in your organization or the specific organization unit where Inbox was enabled.

How does Inbox by Gmail work with Vault?

Vault fully supports Inbox by Gmail with the following exceptions:

  • Label-based retention—Bundles in Inbox  work a little bit differently than labels in Gmail. In contrast to when a user applies a label in Gmail, if a user moves a thread to an ungrouped bundle, the thread will be moved to the bundle and removed from the inbox (just like the Move button works in Gmail). Keep this in mind if you have retention policies based on label:inbox.
  • Reminders and Snooze—These Inbox features are currently not supported by Vault.
