Personally, I actually like the redesigned watch pages---the previous one was a bit overcrowded. Just a small criticism - the text is way too small for the links (i.e.: favoriting, sharing) now. Someone could go blind from trying to read them.
Put the Viewcount and Rating back to the size it was. Those are important for us to notice and show our popularity. I think they should be more prominent than they are now. People will be less likely to rate if the stars are smaller.
That doesn't explian why my sponsored video is no where to be found despite having almost no competition. I guess Google has sooo much money it's doesn't need/want the money I would pay if my videos actually appeared where they should and people actually picked them. Don't ignore this the way you ignored my fax.

Just think of youtube as an independent cable channel that looks for viewable content that will keep on running.

While these recent changes may bring up opinionated discussions on both sides of the issue. I recently made a video asking if YouTube could implement a "Hearing-Impaired" Category, within the "Videos" section. We have a community of deaf vloggers who are being overlooked and unseen because of this affliction. They ARE part of this community as well.

I usually like the changes you make for YouTube but you should now that things that are harder to click on will be a lot less used. You really should put back the rating stars to its original size. I hope you have statistics for these kind of things so you can see what I mean.

This is my third comment and I'd like to point out that a lot of people are complaining that the rating stars and the Pause/Play button are too close that when someone tries to pause the video, they accidently clicked the stars. And they rated the video 2 stars by mistake. How retarded is it to put the rating stars and pause/play button so CLOSE! Jerk.

change the layout back to how it was in the 1st place(video column,navigation in the middle), change the default page most popular to most viewed, put back the bulletins, fix the view counter because they stuck(mine froze). let us upload our background image from other image hosting and put back the background url. im glad you changed the videos ratings, statistics etc.. back to how it was in the 1st place. 1 down more to go
- Umm, how am I going to get spotlighted? Doesn't have the same ring to it as featured. Consider changing it back.
- The favorite, playlist, share, flag icons are too small! Change it back so they fill the fill with of the video instead of now when they fill less than 3/4 of the the space.
- The ratings and text are funky, keep it that way.
I like it like this. If possible, try to redesign the channel with internet explorer in mind.
Firefox and Chrome work great, but for my viewers with IE, our background might be a little bit skewed. Take a look, (try zooming in and out of our channel in IE).

Curtis, backgrounds and playlists are both not working today for whatever reason and it's widespread and happening to everyone that is merely making an update edit to their page, and saving.

It's normally better to keep beta-stage changes on a dev server until you're ready to release them, guys. The new video viewing page looks shit - the icons are smaller, layout is broken and looks like 2001. Bring the nice YouTube back. The one that works. Google, you've disappointed me.

Bring back videos under the specific types of Music, like Jazz, I can nolonger see Most Recent Jazz videos. It goes back to Top Musiceverytime, same under Rock or Blues, never goes to Most Recent.

you shouldn't be aloud to get away with this. your partners pay you to advertise their videos throughout your site, naming their videos as "featured" will add a huge user base, but only by misleading viewers into heavily commercialized videos.

When I select Music, and then select a genre like Jazz, I only get Top Music, I DO NOT see Jazz videos. When I try page 2 in Jazz it opens up to Travel or some other sub-directory in an completely non-Music category! Can you fix this? At least Webshots keeps their stuff together, can't you?
Thanks for rearranging my home page after I'd gone out of my way to put featured vids at the top and get rid of promo/spotlight/whatever videos. I just undid all that crap so you wasted your time and mine.

most of the updates are ok, but there's just one problem. the video viewing page. you know, you made the video widescreen, the icons all smaller. it's really annoying, please make the video STANDARD size instead of widescreen. most regular people don't have widescreen cameras.

however, i do think overall that the format change works and will be a great addition, but it may need some more time for tweaking -- of course that is what "spring cleaning" is isn't it

What hapened to the viewing page? I liked the big icons. It went from cool to boring.

ReplyDeletechange the layout back to how it was in the 1st place(video column,navigation in the middle), change the default page most popular to most viewed, put back the bulletins, fix the view counter because they stuck(mine froze). let us upload our background image from other image hosting and put back the background url. im glad you changed the videos ratings, statistics etc.. back to how it was in the 1st place. 1 down more to go

ReplyDelete- Umm, how am I going to get spotlighted? Doesn't have the same ring to it as featured. Consider changing it back.
- The favorite, playlist, share, flag icons are too small! Change it back so they fill the fill with of the video instead of now when they fill less than 3/4 of the the space.
- The ratings and text are funky, keep it that way.

Firefox and Chrome work great, but for my viewers with IE, our background might be a little bit skewed. Take a look, (try zooming in and out of our channel in IE).

Bring back videos under the specific types of Music, like Jazz, I can nolonger see Most Recent Jazz videos. It goes back to Top Musiceverytime, same under Rock or Blues, never goes to Most Recent.

ReplyDeleteyou shouldn't be aloud to get away with this. your partners pay you to advertise their videos throughout your site, naming their videos as "featured" will add a huge user base, but only by misleading viewers into heavily commercialized videos.

ReplyDeleteWhen I select Music, and then select a genre like Jazz, I only get Top Music, I DO NOT see Jazz videos. When I try page 2 in Jazz it opens up to Travel or some other sub-directory in an completely non-Music category! Can you fix this? At least Webshots keeps their stuff together, can't you?

most of the updates are ok, but there's just one problem. the video viewing page. you know, you made the video widescreen, the icons all smaller. it's really annoying, please make the video STANDARD size instead of widescreen. most regular people don't have widescreen cameras.

how does this spotlight thing work anyway? what happened to featured videos that were popular among users? now i get a list of random videos that have nothing to do with what you THINK i want to watch or my "interests"

however, i do think overall that the format change works and will be a great addition, but it may need some more time for tweaking -- of course that is what "spring cleaning" is isn't it
