Global Call for Proposals: Successful Collaboration Across Sectors for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ health

30 NOVEMBER 2017 | GENEVA, SWITZERLAND - PMNCH and Every Woman Every Child are seeking twelve inspiring examples of collaborations across sectors designed to improve women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health. Through this global call for proposals we are looking for stories from low-, middle-, and high-income countries to develop as case studies that provide inspiration, insight and ideas about what has worked and why, in collaborating across sectors.

Today marked a significant milestone for health and human rights as WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad al Hussein signed an agreement to deepen collaboration between their agencies. The agreement – formally called a Framework for Cooperation – responds to the recommendations of the High Level Working Group for the Health and Human Rights of Women, Children and Adolescents. The initial term of the Framework is for four years and it spells out several ways in which the two agencies will strengthen their collaboration.

The Partnership’s ten constituencies were in Geneva to consider a new approach to strengthening and deepening the work PMNCH partners do together. This was a unique opportunity to hear from each of the SO groups on progress in implementing the 2017 PMNCH work plan; assess and agree on an effective partner-centric approach to working; and identify priorities for 2018. The meeting heard contributions from partners on the role of the Partnership, its value add and how the partner-centric model could be better expressed and structured to contribute meaningfully to the work of the partners.

6 NOVEMBER 2017 | ONLINE — 6 November 2017 -- PMNCH, WHO, and 3ie have launched an evidence map and online tool to make available existing research on the effectiveness of social, behavioural and community engagement (SBCE) interventions for improving women’s and children’s health. The tool also highlights gaps where further or new research is needed. The report and online tool show that there is a considerable body of evidence from which we can draw upon for lessons learned. They also show that there are still significant gaps in the evidence base for SBCE interventions, seen as vital in making further gains for women’s and children’s health under the Every Woman Every Child Global Strategy.
