To celebrate Giant Days being nominated for two Eisner Awards this year (best continuing series and best writer), I’m taking all the Google ads off the site for a month. I hate running ads; they keep a roof over my head in slow months, but it is my pleasure to shut them all down for a little while. As soon as I can, I’d like to turn them off forever.
And there are plenty of other ways to support Scary Go Round - until Saturday June 4th, use code “DES” to get 20% off my books and comics in my UK store. I’ve added some Bad Machinery 3 and 5 softcovers (hard to get in the UK) that I found in the shed too. Or if you prefer, you can sign up as a subscriber from $3 a year.
Other news: Giant Days 15 is out this Wednesday (June 1st). It’s a good one!

Last week I was on holiday, and during a quiet afternoon, I started scribbling ideas down for a tenth Bad Machinery story. “Plenty here”, I thought to myself, rubbing my hands together, “plenty here”.
It seems cruel to write that and then to say that I’ve decided to put Bad Machinery on an indefinite hiatus. We’ve been here before, of course, but the difference now is that I’m writing a monthly ongoing book (amongst other things) – plotting, writing and drawing six-month arcs is a bridge too far. I was speaking to someone earlier this week and describing my workload, and realised that I was describing something ridiculous when I looked into their eyes. They were spinning like slot machine reels.
I’ve written before about how much I love the Bad Machinery characters – and I really do. I know what the tenth case looks like, but I want to make it the best one, and that feels out of reach at the moment. Obviously the door is not closed on Lottie et al. They will be back.
Bobbins.horse will continue, Monday-Saturday in the meantime. I know it’s a weird comic, but I think I can do daily webcomics a hundred times better than I could ten, fifteen years ago, and I can make six a week without a lot of difficulty.
Thanks for sticking with this old fool.
Hello hello! I have secured some new stock for my UK shop. Here is what is IN!
BAD MACHINERY HARDCOVERS!
I have books 2, 3, 4 and the new book 5 in stock. £20 each! I only have a handful of the lower numbers left and won’t be getting more.

MORDAWWA MINIS!
Three quid + P&P gets you Mordawwa’s recent story in a glossy format.

NEW COMBO 6-PACK!
All three original Giant Days minis, Expecting To Fly 1&2 and Mordawwa for £18.
ALMOST GONE: THAT
I have ten copies of Shelley Winters’ moth-centric American adventure left. After that it’s out of print, my fine friend.
If you’re in the USA, you’ll be able to get Mordawwa and the new combo pack from next week at Topatoco without the “benefit” of international shipping. I’ll post when they go up there.
Giant Days 14 hits comic shop shelves today, written by me, pencilled by Max Sarin, inked by Liz Fleming, coloured by Whitney Cogar and lettered by Jim Campbell! In the latest, and if I may be so bold, greatest issue, the ladies must find a home for their second year. How this leads to what I believe to be the greatest street fight since Dan took on The Captain in Deadwood is for you to find out within. It should be up at Comixology very shortly too.
[Giant Days volume 1 is heavy reduced at Comixology right now, so if you’ve not read it yet, that would be the way to get in on the ground floor.]

Bad Machinery 5: The Case Of The Fire Inside is in comic shops today, and in bookstores next week! Find your nearest comic shop here.
As ever, you can get hard and softcover versions direct from me via Topatoco! As a special early-bird incentive, the first 100 purchasers get a free copy of my 32-page mini, MORDAWWA, featuring the recent tale of the Queen Of Hell. Act while stocks last! We also have bad Machinery combo packs for cost-conscious purchasers. Something for everyone.
[Note: I don’t currently have any stock in the UK - sorry! But Topatoco have new, much cheaper DHL Tracked shipping options I think you will appreciate.]
