Great book I found to be very helpful in learning the basics of cooking and some new techniques as well. I saw it mentioned as the top comment in an earlier thread this week.

I just checked the tag and it says best if used by August 2019..that makes me think no I should just pitch it but I want some more input before I do that. It has been in my freezer since being given to me.

I have been trying to develop a liking for mushrooms. So far my efforts have mostly consisted of chucking them in a stir fry, which is nice but I want to branch out a bit. What are some interesting veggie recipes featuring some form of mushroom?

I'm suspecting it's pork loin. But at the supermarket it just said lean pork and forgot to ask.

I make chicken stock at home pretty frequently using onions, garlic, celery, carrots, and herbs. Today I was cutting up some cauliflower to roast and I decided to save the core and leaves to try and throw into my stock next time. This got me thinking if vegetable scraps more generally would work for stock, like the stalk of brussel sprouts. Does anyone have experience making stock from less traditional ingredients? Would it taste good, or would it even add anything? Thanks!

So, I had to buy a load of white/pickling vinegar for another project (homemade chorizo) but I'll only be using the tiniest amount of it, so figured I'd give pickling a go...

I wanted to try making spicy pickled onions, and I've picked up a bag of pearl onions and some birds-eye chillies, along with the aforementioned vinegar and the requisite salt, is there anything else you'd suggest using?

Any other tips would be appreciated too!
