Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) Starring: Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, Danika Yarosh, Patrick Heusinger, Holt McCallany, Austin Hébert, Robert Catrini, Robert Knepper, Billy Slaughter, and Teri Wyble Directed By: Edward Zwick Review Why isn't the tagline once you go Jack you Never go back? I mean to go with the kick ass movie you should have a kick ass tagline. Tom Cruise is back as Jack Reacher who has back and forth calls with Major Susan Turner ( Cobie Smulders). When he goes to see her he finds she is arrested for a crime she didn't commit. He gets Major Turner after he is also committed for a 16 year old crime ( he obviously didn't commit) he escapes military prison with Major Turner and now they are both on the run trying to clear there names while Reacher tries to protect someone who may change his life forever. I loved the first Jack Reacher back in like what 2012, it was my favorite action movie of that year. You can imagine I was very excited when the sequel was announced and would have Cobie Smulders (Robin from How I Met Your Mother, my favorite TV Show) but when the reviews came out and I saw the percentage on RT (Rotten Tomatoes) I was sorely disappointed. This is adapted from the 18th novel of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books ( as to why they just skipped to the 18th novel I will never understand) I don't read these books I just watch the movies, but I did read someone's review of this film saying that even though Tom Cruise may not be as big as Reacher is in the books he portrays the character like he is in the books so the movie has got that going for it. Along with the good performance from Cobie Smulders and Tom Cruise is the great action sequences that are well paced but the first half of this movie doesn't have good pacing but like right when he gets Major Turner it starts booming and it stays booming with lots of great action-packed fun to be had. I really liked the story angle of Reacher having a daughter even if it was a little predictable. The Direction was pretty good as well, I can see why some may call it a generic action movie. Most of writing does seem like that while other parts like I mentioned earlier the Reacher may have a daughter and has to protect her angle was really cool. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is an adrenaline pumping thrill ride that does seem a little genreic and can be quite slow. But still has good piece of plot and good acting and direction. I'm giving Jack Reacher: Never Go Back a three and a half out of five.
