The Office of Public Outreach (OPO) at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is a world-class leader in astronomy education and public outreach (E/PO). We conduct E/PO activities for NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Our efforts focus on meeting the needs of the general public, students, and educators by connecting to three user communities: news media, web users, and education venues. In addition, OPO hosts the Astrophysics Science Education and Public Outreach Forum (SEPOF), a team charged with coordinating the education and outreach activities under NASA’s Astrophysics theme. We are structured along these community lines, and each OPO branch strives to provide its audience with tailored products and services. At the same time, we leverage our assets and expertise across these branches and with external partners in collaborative ways to achieve maximum synergy, efficiency, and reach.
