• From June 1998 FHM Magazine: Q: You're forever being name-dropped by other musicians. Have you met any of your heroes? A: No. All the ones I like I haven't yet met. Van Morrison, Bob Dylan - I've never met them and I'm quite happy I haven't, so I can harbour all sorts of romantic illusions about them which I'm sure would be shattered if I ever met them.
  Soon after this, Nick would meet Bob at Glastonbury, 28/6/98. This event is witnessed by a great photo of the two of them by Bleddyn Butcher in the fall 1998 issue of the official Nick Cave fanzine The Witness.

• Nick Cave and Will Oldham met at Lollapalooza 1994 and talked about music. Will recalls: "We then regularly played "New Pony" from Bob Dylan's Street-Legal album. The pattern of Jack The Ripper from Cave's Henry's Dream is based on that of "New Pony", and he has some other songs which borrow extensively from "Street-Legal". Cave apparently saw one of our shows, came to me later on and said "Street-Legal" was his favorite Dylan album. To which I said: `I Know` [Will grins]"
  I am not aware of any other clear examples, except "How Much Longer" as used in Loverman, which is also taken from "New Pony".

  CAVE: I guess it's Slow Train Coming by Bob Dylan. That's a great record, full of mean-spirited spirituality. It's a genuinely nasty record, certainly the nastiest 'Christian' album I've ever come across.
