Reddit posts can now be embedded elsewhere on the internet

Including photos, GIFs, and videos

Reddit has added an embed feature for nearly every post on its site, letting you snag a snippet of code and place linked posts, images, and videos in other news outlets and blogs. The feature may be something a journalist or website owner finds more useful than the everyday Reddit user. However, it provides a strategic benefit to Reddit, giving the company a way to help its content live outside its core website and mobile app. To embed a post, just click the share button next to the comment link and click on the embed icon on the far right. That should bring up a preview of the post, as well as the embed code.

"The great thing about Reddit content is that it’s usually longer, it’s more insightful, more in-depth than you’ll see on other social platforms," said Mark Luckie, Reddit’s head of journalism and media, in an interview with TechCrunch. "You’re going to get a more robust conversation." Luckie thinks the propensity for Reddit threads to generate news stories on their own is a testament to the power of the site's discussions. The company is now letting those conversations and any attached media live on their own, away from the website.

Here's a few examples of what different types of Reddit threads look like when embedded:
