WordPress Origin Story

Years ago, a relative of a friend asked me if I could create a website for him. I had never done such thing at that time, but I was familiar with development conventions and, web-related, at least with HTML and CSS. So I just said ‘yes’. I had no idea how a real website worked, only having had created some static HTML websites before. So I browsed around and discovered the concept of a CMS. “Cool”, I thought, “that’s easy”. Well, not as easy as I thought at first. I installed a whole bunch of content management systems, but they all threw some cryptic errors at me – all except WordPress. So I stuck with that. I’ve been working with WordPress on a daily basis since then. And that story here always reminds me that it is as powerful as any other CMS, but at the same time as easy as… well, as it is.
