Java 10 : What we know so far
It has been 2 months since the release of Java 9. With the new schedule announced, Java 10 should be available in just 4 months now ! With the short timescale before Java 10, the new features and enhancements will be based on the following JEP (Java Enhancement Process) :
- 286: Local-Variable Type Inference
- 296: Consolidate the JDK Forest into a Single Repository
- 304: Garbage-Collector Interface
- 307: Parallel Full Garbage Collector for G1
- 310: Application Class-Data Sharing
- 312: Thread-Local Handshakes

* Support for CSS animations

* Focus traversal API
* WebGL support in WebView
* Improved image I/O support
* A JavaFX equivalent of the AWT Desktop APIs
* Multi-res image API
* NIO-backed writable images
