Firebase @ #io16 video: Progressive Web Apps on Firebase

Progressive Web Apps offer a first-class mobile experience for users, but can be daunting to approach the first time you build them. Luckily, Firebase offers a first-class development experience for building Progressive Web Apps! In this session, we take a Firebase-powered web application and turn it into an offline-ready, service-working, app-manifesting, production-ready Progressive Web App using Firebase Hosting, Auth, and Database. We walk through how to add Progressive Web App capabilities to an existing app, how to cache app shell and Firebase Database data offline, and how to deploy your PWA to Firebase Hosting.

Firebase @ #io16 video: Smarter sharing and onboarding with Firebase Dynamic Links and Firebase Invites

URLs and mobile deep links are the foundation of online marketing channels, yet their behavior can change depending on the platform, how they were opened, and whether or not there's an app installed to handle the URL. Even more distressing, most deep link information gets lost during the app installation process. Firebase Dynamic Links are URLs that let you take the user to the best possible experience, no matter what their situation. In this talk, we look at how to use them. We also learn how Firebase Invites integrates Firebase Dynamic Links with a smart sender UI to make sharing more effective.

Firebase @ #io16 video: The key to Firebase security

All data stored in Firebase is by default readable and writable by any authenticated user. While this is great for getting started, productions apps require stronger security. Thankfully, Firebase has your back with Security Rules. They provide a declarative way to specify who can access certain data and what schema that data should have. Take a deep dive into Firebase security to learn the best practices when securing your production Firebase apps.

+Firebase yes.

Feature requests:
1) Add support for running code server side (Java, PHP, Ruby, etc.).
2) Add support for Job Scheduling on server side. I would like to schedule running Java code at user specified intervals, from an Android app for example.
3) Add support for Beta Distribution. I know Google Play has Alpha and Beta channels, but for outsourcing companies and apps that might as well not even be deployed on the store at all, it's just not feasible. Take a look at HockeyApp or Appaloosa.

Questions:
1) Why are we not able to filter analytics events by custom event data that we specify inside the Android bundle? This literally makes Analytics almost useless.
2) Why aren't screen view hits supported natively like GA did?
3) Can we hide specific crash reports that we have already fixed, like the Play Console allows? Currently it's almost unusable if you have many crash groups in the list.

That's it for now I guess. I'll update the list if needed.
