What does licensing your photo mean?
A licensed photo can be used for:
Commercial purposes like an advertisement or a campaign
Editorial purposes like newspaper and magazine articles, blog posts, and other written commentaries which gives visual context to a story.
What are all the licensing options for Marketplace? What do these mean?
500px Marketplace currently has two license types:
Royalty-Free (RF) Our royalty-free licenses are worldwide, with unlimited print and/or online impressions, any-media usage with no expiry or seat limit. Once the photo is licensed by the buyer, they can use it as many times as they want and they do not incur any added costs.
Products for Resale (Extended License) Enhanced license grant which includes the ability to incorporate the image into print or electronic products for resale or distribution (including templates and on-demand products) provided that such a product: a) combines the Image with words and/or other graphics or images; or b) the Image is not the primary factor driving the sale of such product.
Exclusive vs non-Exclusive options
Within the Royalty-Free license, 500px Marketplace supports two different licensing options:
Exclusive licensing means that only 500px Marketplace can license the image commercially and you have never licensed this content commercially before through another agency.
Non-Exclusive licensing means you can sell your images through other commercial licensing vendors, or to other commercial buyers, or you have licensed it commercially in the past.
Web Ready vs Print Ready quality
Web Ready Royalty-Free (RF)
Our royalty-free licenses are worldwide, with unlimited online impressions, any-media usage with no expiry or seat limit.
The photos are available at approximately 2 megapixels (72dpi, 1800px minimum on the longest edge) and are $34-$49 USD per photo.

Print Ready Royalty-Free (RF)
Our royalty-free licenses are worldwide, with unlimited print and online impressions, any-media usage with no expiry or seat limit.
The photos are available at the highest resolution (300 dpi, 3000px minimum on the longest edge) and are $149-$249 USD per photo.

End-User License Agreement (EULA)
When uploading your photos to 500px, you have the option to choose what license you would like to share your photo under. This license selection refers to the copyright or ownership you wish to maintain on your photos.
If you intend to sell your photos on the 500px Marketplace, you must select the Standard 500px License in order to submit your photos for sale.
