Before crafting a sequel to his own The Terminator, writer/director James Cameron made a career out of making sequels to other filmmakers’ projects. The man who would brings us Avatar, True Lies and Titanic began his career as the writer/director of Piranha Part Two: The Spawning, but he would follow it by having the same jobs on Aliens, in addition to writing Rambo: First Blood Part II. In fact, James Cameron wrote Aliens and Rambo First Blood Part II at the same time.

Longtime fans of the Back to the Future trilogy know that there are many parallels that run between all three of the films. For example, one of the biggest parallels between all three films is a big chase that happens in the middle of Hill Valley’s town square. There’s also Marty McFly waking up from what he thinks is a dream in every single movie, only to realize that he’s not dreaming when some form of Lea Thompson is in front of him. But it turns out there might be more than just shared sequences, plot points, etc.

Jaws is one of the most well known movies of all time, right down to the iconic theme music composed by John Williams. However, there are likely plenty among general audiences out there who don’t know that the 1975 thriller directed by Steven Spielberg was based on a book by Peter Benchley. The book is also called Jaws, but there are quite a few differences between the book and what ended up on the big screen.

Just a few days ago we passed the 15th anniversary of the devastating terrorist attacks that hit the United States on September 11th, 2001. It’s a day that many won’t soon forget. However, what’s strange is that this year brings high schools the first group of freshman who weren’t even alive when the events of that day transpired, leaving them to learn about how that day changed our country forever from contemporary history.
Undoubtedly the lives lost and the aftermath of the attacks was what dominated news headlines and kept cable news busy for months. But the entertainment world also felt the impact of these attacks as the had to figure out how to approach the action sequences of particular movies without sparking trauma among audiences still recovering from the events of that day. We know that movies like Spider-Man and Men in Black II changed key scenes and plot elements after 9/11, and it turns out Lilo & Stitch had to do the same thing.

The 42nd season of Saturday Night Live will premiere on October 1st, but before then, some vacant spots on the cast needed to be filled. Cast members Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam were let go after spending six years on the show while Jon Rudnitsky wasn’t asked to return after just one season as a featured player. This week brought Captain America: Civil War to Blu-ray and DVD, which means Marvel’s hit summer blockbuster is ready to get the Honest Trailer treatment.
While the idea of having The Avengers be their own villains seems like a big deal, let’s not forget that these superheroes have fought each other plenty of times before. And as the mockery of Marvel’s latest action extravaganza points out, that’s what happens when most of your villains kinda suck.

Back before X-Men: Apocalypse hit theaters, 20th Century Fox delivered a retro commercial for Xavier’s School for the Gifted, looking like it was ripped straight off a VHS tape. The video featured Jubilee, and she probably got just as much screen time there as she did in the final movie despite being all over the marketing materials leading up to the movie. Now Xavier’s School for the Gifted gets one more retro push with another viral video arriving just in time to promote the arrival of X-Men: Apocalypse on home video.

It’s only been four months since X-Men: Apocalypse hit theaters, but it feels like it’s been much longer. That might be a testament to just how forgettable of an X-Men sequel it was, even though I did find enough to enjoy in it to keep me from simply hating it. Now we’re being reminded of the film again as it’s now available on Digital HD and will be hitting Blu-ray and DVD on October 4th, and the release of the film on home video has provided us with confirmation of one particular detail in the forthcoming Wolverine 3.
The Marvel Comics villain Mr. Sinister has been confirmed to be a villain in Wolverine 3, which as we already know will mark Hugh Jackman‘s last time playing the adamantium-clad mutant. Find out more after the jump. Read More »
