Within the R&D team we design solutions and implement them with our product and engineering colleagues. I help develop our portfolio of projects and serve as a catalyst for each member of the team to advance both personal and project goals. Some of my work entails writing code, sometimes it's road-mapping partnerships, and often its helping colleagues sharpen their work so we can ship projects faster.

I started off as an iOS engineer at Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. I was in this role for over 4 years and recently moved into a new role as a Mobile User Interface Engineer in our New York office. In this new role, I work on tooling for designers. Developers have a whole suite of tools to do their jobs, but design has been an evolution. Photoshop for a long time was the tool of choice, but Sketch is now used by the majority in Facebook and by many designers around the world, and new tools are being released very frequently. It’s fun to be using my Mac OS X Cocoa skills again!

I head up a measurement team across three industries: CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods), Healthcare, and Government. The measurement team at Facebook works with advertisers to understand the business impact of ad dollars spent on Facebook and Facebook's family of apps. We synthesize these learnings and bring them back to our teams internally so we can develop stronger strategies and build better products.

While the projects I was given were very interesting and intellectual challenging, it was the people in the office that made my internship so enjoyable. They struck a perfect balance between smart people you can learn a lot from, people that push you forward – and people you would want to hang out with. The Tel-Aviv office was blessed with awesome people that became my friends.

Jyoti B leads Strategic Sourcing for The Connectivity Lab at Facebook, which is developing ways to make affordable internet access possible in communities around the world. I work on iOS Feed Platform from our New York office. Our team is unique in that we support all kinds of other teams like Reactions, Groups and Videos. We build News Feed for iPhone, but we also support other teams working on Feed by solving any problems they encounter and building the tools they need.
