April 30 is the 20th Anniversary of Dia! How are you celebrating?

The Association for Library Service to Children's monthly Twitter chat covers topics related to youth library service and this month Día is front and center!

ALSC is heading to Washington, DC, to kick off the 20^th anniversary celebration of Día!

ALSC's Quicklists Consulting Committee has developed two new booklists for this celebratory year of Día. The 2016 Building STEAM with Día Booklists continue the theme of identifying promising resources to supplement (S)cience, (T)echnology, (E)ngineering, the (A)rts, and (M)ath programming while reflecting a variety of cultures and languages. The 20 Years of Día: Share the Gift of Reading lists are a special tribute to encourage everyone to participate in the celebration of Día's 20th anniversary.

Congratulations to the winners of the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children's Literature (CSMCL) 2016 Día Grant with an African American Focus.

Have you already started planning for your big Día Turns 20 Celebration? April 30 of 2016 marks 20 years of the celebration of Día as the connection of children and books, so the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has awarded 20 mini-grants to make the celebration even bigger!

To launch the yearlong celebration of Día turning 20, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has awarded ten Building STEAM with Día mini-grants to help libraries implement a Building STEAM with Día program in their community.

The Building STEAM with Día Toolkit, made possible by a generous donation to the Association for Library Service to Children from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, provides a research-based overview of the importance of intentionally planning for the inclusion of diverse content and community partners in STEAM programming. The toolkit also includes easy-to-follow sample programs and tips to get started with a Día STEAM program. As we near the 20th year of the celebration of Día, we would love for your library to kick off your Día year by thinking about Building STEAM with Día!
