The Raspberry Pi Model 3 is the newest, but 2 should do just fine. Don't shy away because it's C though, the Arduino is easy to program. You'll probably still find it easier than using python on the RPi

You can get the ultrasonic distance sensors super cheap. Height could be a problem though... You may have to hook up a camera and use the distance to the object + computer vision to detect the top. What do you need the height for?

You should definitely be able to collect and store the data, but you'll probably have to use C. You may be able to use a Raspberry Pi if you're set on Python but the rPi probably does more than you need.

Port Triton is pretty good, if applying to a smaller company I recommend sending the company an email about how much you wanna work there too because they don't have that many applicants. You can also send me your resume to intern at KnuEdge, we're not hiring right now but potentially in February

SDSU does parking well - not only do they have many massive parking garages, but the 8 freeway exit takes you directly to the row of parking garages, whereas at UCSD we have to wind our way through side streets to get to any parking garage (Hopkins especially).

Lol yes I like to joke that it's impossible to delete a photo one I've taken it since it's backed up pretty much everywhere. Love that the Pixel has unlimited photo storage too.
