    An editor once told me, "Don't worry, I won't let you outside with your underwear showing." I've never forgotten it and have used it as a guidepost for working relationships ever since.

    Find a good editor who won’t let you destroy your career with a terrible essay that offends an entire religion. You deserve better. All writers deserve editors who care about them and their careers.
