    science is practicing heresy, prove/disprove the known w reasoning and data. science is not static. what we think as gospel truth today may turn out to be false tom. moral: scientists shd not be stuck and say, "its published and therefore must be true".

    Highly recommend this thread to see the dangers that headline-grabbing papers have on the way journals are judged. Being correct may not have generated as many citations as being wrong but headline-grabbing.

    So, how did I like "post-publication peer review"? IMO, the 6 month long process has done nothing useful, except provide a paywalled citation to the original paper. A paper that should have been fixed in peer review remains unchanged, and is lauded as a top paper of the year.
