@greg: I'm still on OS X v10.10.5 'Yosemite,' and I'm affected by this problem as well. I don't know whether it's due either to something that's changed server-side or the fact that I just recently did a brew install -vd --build-from-source openssh --with-ldns, which updated me from the built-in version of OpenSSH ('OpenSSH_6.2p2, OSSLShim 0.9.8r 8 Dec 2011') to 'OpenSSH_7.1p1, OpenSSL 1.0.2d 9 Jul 2015,' but trying to run git pull -v on my copy of the MediaWiki repository gives me the expected error output:

Unable to negotiate with 2620::861:3:208:80:154:81: no matching key exchange method found. Their offer: diffie-hellman-group1-sha1
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Is the testing you did for Safari 7.x sufficient enough to cover Safari 8.x?
